ossyrocks Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I love these old GKs. A decent amp at a good price for a retailer. https://reverb.com/uk/item/86488792-gallien-krueger-400rb-mk-iv-bass-amp-head-2nd-hand Rob Quote
ossyrocks Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 Actually, it's £199 if you buy direct from their website 1 1 Quote
JGSpector Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Got to love a GK Rb series head. I still have my 700RB II which I love. Sure someone will snap that 400RB up at that price. Quote

JGSpector Posted January 6 Posted January 6 That's precisely why I have avoided opening the link you put in your post Quote

Let us know what it's like. I couldn't see any rack ears on it, but the pics weren't great. Jason at GK sent me some when I asked though. 1 Quote
cetera Posted January 8 Posted January 8 400RB Mark IV received 😎 Great service from RichTone Music. Superbly packed and the amp is in GREAT condition - No noisy pots, nice and clean and boy is it LOUD! These amps have so much punch and authority, they're unbeatable! Looks great in my GK collection alongside my original 400RBs, 800RBs, 700RB-II and Legacy800 too! Thanks for the heads up @ossyrocks! 2 Quote

Rob No, It's screwed into the hardshell case case from above. The case is twice the depth it needs to be so thinking I might unscrew it/take it out and rack it into a lightweight shallow case.... I've been using one of these until recently for my 400RB-I https://www.thomann.co.uk/flyht_pro_rack_2u_eco_ii_compact_23 I wouldn't say it's the most robust rack case in the world but it was fine in the boot of my car. I've upgraded to SKB Rotos now, just because a couple came up cheap and I have more gigs now where the band travel together in a van. If you need rack ears, GK sold me a couple of pairs and shipped from the US direct at not unreasonable cost. Rob 1 Quote
ossyrocks Posted January 9 Author Posted January 9 Interestingly, and somewhat of a puzzle, Richtone also have a 700RB-II in stock and advertised. Whilst the 400RB-IV was keenly priced at £199, their 700RB-II is priced at £549, which I think is rather eye watering. Rob 1 Quote
ossyrocks Posted January 9 Author Posted January 9 I rang Richtone today about the 700RB. It's up at £499 on their site. The chap was quite open about how they price things. Basically they mark up everything they buy in (or part ex in) at the same rate. What they pay should be two thirds of the selling price. So at £499 retail, it means they bought it in for about £330. He said there was no room for movement on the £499 price because of what they paid. Rob 1 Quote

I bought my 400rb off @ossyrocks and I tried it for the first time at practice. Plugged it into an old Warwick 4x10 and 1x15 stack and it was easily as loud as the 600w Trace Elliott head that was there and sounded miles better. Guitarist commented how amazing it sounds. Yours looks like it was in a combo and has been repurposed into a head with a custom case, I’ve thought about doing that too with a GK combo as the combos aren’t popular due to weight but the heads are always in good condition. Does it have the full case when you take it out? 1 Quote

ossyrocks Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 I think if GK reissued the 800RB or even the 400RB they would sell like hot cakes. 2 Quote
sifi2112 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Faitalpro 400 4ohm speaker to get all the juiciness sorry I mean juicy mess GK growl lol 2 Quote
Minininjarob Posted January 11 Posted January 11 With less than 300w a 400rb has no damn right to be so fine sounding and so damn loud. i did read on a Reddit post a long time ago that someone had a 1001rb which is supposed to be 700w in 4ohms and he took it to an amp tech to get it checked out when he got it and the tech measured 1000w into 8ohms (found it see screenshot!). I honestly can’t see me using any other amp now. 3 Quote
