Rabbie Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Hi all, A question for those who might be good at thinking outside the box…or in this case…the case. My removable neck double bass conversion will need a flight case. I have priced the very few cases available on the planet, and they all come in at eye watering prices (£2k or thereabouts). frankly, I just need a very sturdy fibreglass (or corrugated plastic) box with sturdy latches and good wheels and I can stick the required foam inside. It needs, of course, to withstand flights and general transport, so it needs to be haaaaard! However, I have ZERO tools and knowledge to make it myself. Does anybody know someone who can help/have any idea? Quote
Burns-bass Posted January 8 Posted January 8 I’m not sure where you live but I’d look for a local firm that works with and fabricates fibreglass. Small engineering firms can do incredible work. As a case in point, I needed a spike made for a Burns EUB. I spoke with music shops who told me it was impossible and quoted me hundreds for a replacement. A local engineering firm measured the thread and constructed one for £20 all within a few hours. While it’s unlikely they’d build bespoke they may be able to adapt an existing design. It’s not as if David Gage is building these things himself… 1 Quote
