seanobrien Posted January 9 Posted January 9 The bass pot on my Victor bailey jazz stopped working, left it to a guy to put new pot in. He replaced the concentric pot with one the same value. Now the bass pot has to be turned up full before it works, treble is still on when it is turned off and mids aren't working as they should. Should i tty replacing the pcb board, or fit a new preamp. Appreciate any help or advice. Thanks Quote
Rayman Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Electrics are a bit of an enigma. You can chase your tail trying to figure out why things are not as they should be, especially on active basses. I had similar issues with an active jazz, and after much head scratching and a couple of new parts I figured it out. Make sure that nothing is touching something it shouldn’t. The pots touching the shielding can throw things out of kilter, and all it takes is a tiny stray wire touching something it shouldn’t to cock it all up. Was the new pot a linear pot or audio taper? All this stuff makes a difference. As always, a “good” tech will be able to figure it out for you. Quote
seanobrien Posted January 15 Author Posted January 15 Hi guys, thanks for the comments. The bass is now getting checked out by a good tech. Will let you know what's wrong with it when I hear from him. Thanks 1 Quote
