I mean, I would assume the person who made the video decided that. YouTube isn't a centralised service, it's user made content

Wake up, sheeple!! That's what Fender want you to think.

Every time I see someone call them a "Squire", I just think "retard".

(I know you're not supposed to use that word these days, but that is exactly the word I think.)

Thought crime!

So verboten is that word in Stupidland, that a forum I use doesn't even allow the word 'retardant' which is particularly ridiculous as it's a studio building thread and the phrase 'fire retardant' is quite useful.

OR better yet Запоздалыи

Our Russian friends can say it without being chastised .

In terms of value for money I think Squier are doing a hell of a job in recent years. When I started playing guitar in 1999 there were just the Affinity Series and Standard Series which were very decent but nothing special, and the plywood Bullet Strat which was... meh? But with the introduction of the Vintage Modified series and especially the Classic Vibe they really made a huge leap. I'm not too familiar with their current bass offerings, but I would happily play one of the Classic Vibe Jazzmasters or Telecasters, especially that Andertons limited edition in Danish Pete Purple! Lush :$

My number 1 guitar is a 1980s MIJ Squier E-series Strat and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

But I guess I fell for it and now I'm feeding the troll. Sorry!

I still have my Cort-made Korean Squier P I bought new in 1998. Definitely coming with me to the grave, that one.

Oh oh.  Better hope @prowla doesn't spot this.

Ah.  😂

Some of the nicest basses I have owned have been Squiers.  My old JV P bass was the best P bass I have held in my hands.  Absolutely gorgeous.  I've always tended to listen to my basses with my ears, not my eyes*.

*Apart from anything with a tort plate, obvs...

What was that brand again?

Being slightly curious about this, I just did a search for "squire bass", used condition, UK only, on That Ebay. That search returns both Squires and Squiers. Intriguingly, until you reach £250, it's about 80% Squier and 20% Squire, then there's suddenly a great glut of Squires from £250 to £260, then the ability to read the name on the headstock seems to reassert itself.
