Anyone know the difference between Fender's 'Burgundy Mist' and 'Penny' colours? Both are a pink-ish metallic finish.

My daughter loves the colour of her Squier Affinity Jazz Bass, which is the first bass she's ever had. That one is 'Burgundy Mist'. I promised her that I'd upgrade her if she stuck with it and after 18 months, she has and is now in a band and gigging. So, I've been looking around and the only 'Burgundy Mist' Jazz Basses are Custom Shop four grand jobbies. That's a bit too much of an upgrade at the moment unfortunately.

However, the American Performer series (now discontinued but plenty available used) has one in what they call a 'Penny' finish, which looks like it might be similar but online pics vary considerably. Anyone know anything about the contrast between the two colours?

The other option, obviously, is keeping the Squier body and changing everything else- neck, hardware, electronics etc.

Hopefully this Facebook link will work. This is an excellent factory special run , Mexican, with matching headstock. This is Burgundy Mist, Penny is a mutch more Copper colour. Good luck regardless.

Ooh. That's really interesting. Thank you.

Thanks for the info about the 'Penny' finish too. It was this vid (where it looks fairly pink) that made me think they were similar-

If we're allowed to stray off the Fender path, the Sire V7 can be had in Burgundy (Mist)...

Andertons won't have it for at least the next three months, but Thomann are suggesting they'll have some in the next week or so...

Thanks for the info. I'll pass this on to her too.

I worked as a Fender dealer for a time, Burgundy Mist and Penny are not very similar at all other than both being metallic colours. As others have said Penny is a copper colour.
