skankdelvar Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 (edited) So I saw this Dirnt on the bay - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=160339500438 - and the headstock's wrong. Someone's switched the neck Mailed the seller a heads-up. At first he thought I was mistaken - per his first reply on the bay. Told him again, so he pulls the item and mails me this:
Ive checked around and your spot on, the head stock is not a tele type at all. The bass was manufactured in 2008 and came from a music shop in Morecambe who I am going to speak to ASAP
Credit where it's due - fair play to him. Edited June 4, 2009 by skankdelvar Quote
GreeneKing Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 (edited) I work in Morecambe at the mo and suspect there's only one music shop. Presumably he bought it 2nd hand? Interesting Maybe they have a Fender J bass in stock with a Tele style neck? Edited June 4, 2009 by GreeneKing Quote

They were brilliant when i was trying to get parts for my Warwick, really nice bunch of guys. I don't think they'd pull a con like that, probably just an honest mistake. They gave me parts at cost because they'd lost them (Warwick sent them inside a Rockcase which they had sold, so they had to trace the buyer to get my part!) Quote

Happens more often than you'd think - retailer gets bored on a wet Wednesday in Morecambe and decides to change all the necks around for a laugh. Quote

GreeneKing Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 No, I think PM are good and that if he did buy it there it was an honest mistake. I also have a lot of faith in Humanity - seriously! Most people are pretty decent. Quote

Ou7shined Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Nah he's at it. The description stinks.
professionally set up
By who? Didn't they notice the glaringly obvious "upgrade"?
really cuts through live and in the studio
Erm... it's a P. (subjective )
Used as a spare
But again didn't notice the non Tele headstock.
sell it due to a cash shortage (pro musician)
A pro who needs go back to the axe shop to be told that the headstock is not original but an "upgrade" Lastly
Mike Dirnt and his Green Day band mates pretty much single-handedly brought pop-punk to the masses in the ’90s.
Utter bilge. Mr. Foxen Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I sent a message asking what became of the tele neck as I'm after one. 'Hi and thanks for your interest. Afraid I haven't got the neck any more went to a fellow bass player. Regards' Quote
