Drying it is easy enough if you have a warm house.

 

And there's always potential for blackmail if someone appears to have strange fetishes, like showering with a gig bag. Although if there's not a webcam in the bathroom, that should be safe.

I think it would only be a fetish if you showered whist wearing a gig bag, rather than simply accompanied by one, and were unable to take a shower unless so attired. 

 

Anything else is just harmless fun.

The febreze and bicarb haven't shifted all of the smell inside the case.

 

I'm thinking of taking it to be dry cleaned. — Is that likely to work? —  or could it ruin it?

 

Does anyone here have any experience of taking something similar to a padded gigbag to be dry cleaned?

Just ask them if it’s possible, I had a suitcase lining dry cleaned which isn’t wildly different

Just got back from my local dry cleaner. The lady there was very reluctant to attempt a clean on something bearing no care label, especially with the padding. Also to fit in the machine, there wouldn't be room for anything else so she'd have to charge a minimum of £65. I think an equivalent bag is about £55 from Thomann.

I think for now I'll probably stash the bag in the loft and forget about it until the summer when I can try the sunshine thing.

About fifteen years ago, I bought a second-hand Reunion leather gig-bag from a mate of mine. The bag was in excellent condition, but had obviously been used/stored in numerous smokey pubs, etc.

 

Two days opened up and left outside in sunshine and a light spring breeze, did the trick as if by magic. Try a couple of decent days towards the end of February if we get them. You'll be amazed. Good luck and don't bin that bag. 🤥
