TorturedSaints Posted Friday at 14:04 Posted Friday at 14:04 I thought there might be some discussion about BF’s new active bass cab on here, but I couldn’t find any. I’ve seen a couple of teasers on FB and apparently there will be a playing demo by Alex released at 5pm UK time today. Basically it’s a OneTen T with added Activier amp module from the guitar cabs. It’s certainly piqued my interest, although over a thousand notes is certainly a big investment. It would save me carrying around a BB800 as well. https://barefacedaudio.com/collections/10cr-bass-cabs/products/one_10?variant=54891039490430 2 Quote
Merton Posted Friday at 14:47 Posted Friday at 14:47 Love the idea, less keen on the outlay! But you know it’ll be a quality product of course… 2 Quote
chris_b Posted Friday at 15:54 Posted Friday at 15:54 Passive cabs for me. If anything breaks or I want to upgrade, I'd prefer everything in separate boxes. 4 Quote

I'm kind of looking at this as being a middle ground between a fully featured combo and a separates rig, and ultimately not doing either job. I get it a lot more for guitarists using modellers more extensively. Quote
Kev Posted Friday at 23:51 Posted Friday at 23:51 Almost £1k for a 1x10 combo. Does the tolex still peel? 2 1 Quote

Merton Posted Saturday at 09:28 Posted Saturday at 09:28 Having now watched the full video, I have to say they sound very impressive as PA speakers. Didn’t expect that. 3 Quote
JPJ Posted Saturday at 09:49 Posted Saturday at 09:49 Would have liked to see a balanced input (XLR) as well, but obviously this is aimed at those of us using pedalboard preamps. As others have said, its a lot of wonga for a 1x10 combo but unless I’m mistaken its British made so that’s got to be worth something these days. 4 Quote
Cuzzie Posted Saturday at 10:37 Posted Saturday at 10:37 I think these sound mega and offer a lot and a lot of variability. granted for a lot of people (esp on here) if you are happy with your set up and nothing needs changing (although we all like to tinker), something has to be ground breaking in your mind to make a whole sale change. There will be lots of people on a first set up, or change of journey and this will be phenomenal. liked the bass sound, liked the PA capabilities. great addition to the range and market place IMHO 2 Quote
EBS_freak Posted Saturday at 16:51 Posted Saturday at 16:51 1000 pounds - competing with some high end powered 10 PA cabs there. 4 Quote
Musicman20 Posted Saturday at 18:17 Posted Saturday at 18:17 That is probably very impressive, but wow £1000! Ideally I’d want a bigger / more powerful cab for that price. I know they work wonders with their custom drivers, but I’m not sure I’d get away with a powered 1x10 in a band. I do think powered cabs are becoming more ‘normal’ now due to amazing modellers and pre amp pedals. Quote

I've had a couple of disagreements with Alex over the years, largely - well entirely - my fault, but we should all be bloody grateful that Alex and BF are out there doing what they're doing, and that they're doing with such class and without compromise. I've often wondered why they didn't get into combos given how highly rated their cabs are, but I'm guessing they've identified the direction of travel with this unit. Well done guys 👍 6 Quote
TimR Posted Saturday at 19:53 Posted Saturday at 19:53 There was (or is) a bass head in production being funded by pre-orders. 2 Quote
Jack Posted Saturday at 19:53 Posted Saturday at 19:53 My pair of FR800s was the single best rig I've ever owned, so hopefully this has a bit of that dna. 1 Quote
alexa3020 Posted Saturday at 20:01 Posted Saturday at 20:01 I might be a bit out of order here, but I wish they would get someone that could play on their videos. I know he's not trying to show off his chops and thats not the point, but I find his playing pretty hard to watch. 1 Quote

Cuzzie Posted Sunday at 10:34 Posted Sunday at 10:34 Absolutely agree his playing is fine, it represents the vast majority of limited players like me, so you get an idea of what u may sound like. Dont buy an item of clothing based on how David Beckham looks in it, you wanna see Romesh Ranganathan, Wayne Rooney currently etc in it - then u know what you’ll look like! 6 Quote

Very well put mate 👍 Personally when I see equipment demo'd in the usual fashion, slap or technical funk in one or other form - I find it a turn off, and over and above it all too ofetn being an ego trip for the person doing the demo (understanadle biut not necessary), it's not letting me know how the gear is going to sound when I play the rock/blues/soul stuff I tend to play. 4 1 Quote
Musicman20 Posted Sunday at 14:26 Posted Sunday at 14:26 I don’t think it’s Alex’s playing, I think it just needs setting up a bit differently as a sound demo. The tech is there, but it must be hard to get that across. Maybe a tech talk then it changes to a sit down demo with plec/slap/fingerstyle. Hell even get a basic backing drum track on it. Quote

Looks like he's sidelined that and made it a 200W guitar amp/amp for the 10" PA. I'm a bit confused. Is this bass combo available yet, or is it what's coming, or is it the 200W PA being used as a bass amp? Quote

clauster Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago The One10 with Activier been available to configure on the website for a few weeks now. I was able to have a play through this one before Christmas when I paid a visit to Barefaced HQ. The bigger stand-alone amp is still in development, this has not replaced it. The BF team are making sure it's 100% as good as it can be. 1 Quote
