Which Sansamp Bass pedal to buy..... Advice needed

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi all

At home I use a rack mounted RBI for practice and it sounds great

I play classic punk with a little bit of modern stuff thrown in. I'm wanting to get myself a pedal and I'm thinking the Bass Driver Di Programable or the Bass Driver DI

Programable is getting my eye as I can use 3 different channels but any thoughts from anyone on here

👍😊

The new V2 Bass DI has a dedicated mids knob with switchable frequencies and the bass control can be switched from 40Hz to 80Hz.

I had the V1 Bass DI for years, but I think that the V2 is a significant improvement in terms of tone shaping.

The programmable has no mids control, but the programmable channels means you can easily switch from clean, light overdrive, heavy overdrive or different settings for different basses in a set.

You really can't go too far wrong. If you just want an 'Ampeg in a box' then the VT Bass DI is worth considering too.

IMO all of the Tech21 pedals are plenty good for the job described. The one I used to use was their Para Driver, it has adjustable sweepable Mids so a fair bit more versatile than the others.

Completely agree with that - I've got/had a fair selection, both rack and pedal, and the BDDI v2 is the one I'd currently recommend to anyone.

My vote would be the V2 Bass Driver.

It's been a while since I previously used the V1 Bass Driver but the V2 sounded more natural and versatile at getting warm and driven bass tones without sounding harsh and overly scooped.

I don't know if the drive is slightly differently voiced or if the taper of the pot is different but I'm finding it very much easier to dial in. Currently setting is all eq flat, 2 o clock blend, 9 o clock on the drive.

Also using as my first pedal like doug wimbish and finding it works really well like that, surprisingly!
