Bad Experience with Bax

Guitar landed this morning ( great service and as fast as a UK retailer). Was well packaged and all working as it should. It was actually set up better than the last guitar I bought from Guitar Guitar but presumably this is a factory rather than retailer thing. £550 saved ! I like a happy ending !

I placed one order with BAX just before xmas. They sent me a broken item (that was clearly broken when it was packed) that was probably a customer return. I photographed it and sent it back the next day. Took 6 weeks and a tone of hassle / phone calls / emails / claims to get the refund.

I have since bought many items at a higher price from other retailers and will NEVER USE BAX again.

It's not like they're a supplier of niche items; I only used them as they were 'cheaper'.

They were due to be struck off the company register any day now due to non-disclosure of accounts. Apparently they have raised an 'objection' which probably just means they're trying to buy a bit more time to scam people for a bit longer!

Given the comments I do think I was lucky - and will stop myself looking at the 15% off studio items sale !

I was looking at FCS Sean Hurley P bass before Xmas (Currently £4400) it was £3200 before the black Friday discount code which is a steal. Given the state the Fender 602 bass turned up in i'm kinda glad i didn't order that.

As noted earlier in the thread, despite the .co.uk domain, Bax are not based in the UK.

 

I ordered from them once only. A synth, that arrived with what's known as a "deathdaptor" to convert a two pin power supply to fit a UK plug socket. Totally illegal, highly dangerous.

Seems they might be going bankrupt in Holland now.

Before, Bax in Holland had a good name, and all the criticism I saw was about their UK branch. Unknown to me how and why.
Reportedly, also Bax Holland's name has gone down the drain recently.

Today (Saturday) one or more of their Dutch shops were closed, and the firm filed for "postponement of payment" or something like that, which normally is a step towards bankruptcy.
Dunno the finer details.

Yes, Jochanan Bax was fired from his position of CEO in January - by his brother and FIL. He'll possibly be looking into buying back the company though.

Whilst I have no love for Bax as a company, it'll be very sad for their staff if the do go bust.

 

Hope they can tur it around somehow for their staff's sake if nothing else.

The website is down today - says due to technical issues.  I agree with the post above - its always sad to see a music retailer go under.

Probably be bottom of the heap - staff first, suppliers next, customers - who gives an F about them?  I'll only be out around £100 - long since written off - order's been in since September last year.  Others may not be in a position to be so cavalier about it

I’ve been waiting for strings. They recently offered a refund as they said they weren’t able to get stock but as I wasn’t in a hurry I decided to wait. Silly boy!

Will give it a bit then try the credit card company….

I don't thinbk you've any merit in waiting, if there's gonna be a queue for refunds, may as well be as near the front as possible.

I meant that rather than accept a refund (a couple of weeks ago) I said I’d wait for the strings to come back into stock. They were a good deal and I didn’t mind waiting a week or so more. My bad.

Not received the strings and unlikely to get my money back now.
