Happy Jack Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Checking out who Kenneth Lawrence is led to me to this very strange site: https://salefuet.best/product_tag/37018278_.html I have absolutely no idea what is going on there. Quote
Woodinblack Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Looks fine to me, would rather be seen with that then a fender. But I wouldn't pay that money for it! 2 Quote

binky_bass Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Ken Lawrence builds absolutely fantastic instruments. I've played a few and they are of the absolute highest quality. Personally I love the look, totally get that some won't! I played the below some years ago... an incredible beast. 2 1 Quote

tauzero Posted January 26 Posted January 26 He also builds high quality bass-shaped teapots. I rather like some of the ones on that scam site. I don't like them £3k+ much though. 1 2 Quote

He has a facebook feed. Nothing that screams scam to me. Ken Lawrence basses were much more prevalent back in the late 90s/early 00s. The other instruments are exactly what I'd expect from a Japanese guitar store. I just got back from 10 days in Japan for work and most guitar shops have a section for expensive/over priced US instruments. Saw plenty of eye wateringly expensive Alembics. There's a market for it. Hellzero Posted January 27 Posted January 27 This is not a scam shop as you'll get what you paid for: an expensive postcard or an A4 poster if you are lucky. There are many websites like this one. Quote
Woodinblack Posted January 27 Posted January 27 True, I often get an advert for a shop clearing out Gibson Les Pauls for £200.. but I never fell for it, I mean, what happens if I gave them £200 and I ended up with a Gibson Les Paul!! 1 Quote
Hellzero Posted January 27 Posted January 27 About Kenneth Lawrence: First he's a great bass player too. Second he's a talented luthier up to the level of Ken Smith, Carl Thompson or Vinny Fodera and the likes, if you decide to stay in the USA. He also made a lot of guitars for James Hetfield, who is certainly a reference for great talent, but that's another story. https://www.facebook.com/KennethLawrenceInstruments/ Quote

It really does! I had a landlady at one time, kept a hyper-clean kitchen. You could have done open-heart surgery on the table. She only ever ate protein smoothies. Anyway. She didn't much care for the smell of the garlic I kept in my cupboard, so she put one of those Airwick air fresheners in with it. I'd like to say it added a lovely citrus zest to my cooking. But I'd be lying. 1 Quote
