Hey Guys,

Here we’ve got a lovely older Korean made Lakland 55-01 that I received in a trade only recently. The only reason I’m selling it is to finance a bass I’ve had my eye on for a while and now it’s available.

This is a fantastic bass and like with all Laklands in my experience, they’re easily some of the most playable basses and have the best necks.

It’s loaded with the Bartolini MK1 humbuckers which sound fantastic and it can go from nice and modern sounding to more traditional with a quick adjustment on the preamp. It has the option of either standard or through body stringing. I’ve currently got it strung through with a fresh set of Dunlop Nickels.

Considering the age of the bass, it’s in good shape and there are few light surface dings close to the controls and a few marks on the headstock which I’ve tried to capture in the pics. Everything else works perfectly fine and has a lovely low action.

I’m after £550.

The bass is located in Bridgwater, Somerset. I can post but it would be at the extra cost of the buyer. Collection would be perefed but I can also deliver within a certain distance as well.

Any questions please ask.

Thanks,

Josh.

How old is it and what is the weight?

It is roughly 18 years old (2007) going by the serial number info via the Lakland website, and it weighs 4.4kg.

Hope that helps!

My experience tells me the Korean made Laklands such as yours feel better than the Indonesian made ones. I know others won't agree necessarily with that and I may even be wrong but the(smallish) sample I've tried of each favours the Korean ones. This shouldn't take too long to sell.

Mine is a Korean made one, it’s very light in weight, has a low action, stays in tune. Has a killer B string.
It can be strung through the body or the bridge.
This will be a cracker of a bass for someone, ( especially at the new price)  looking for 1st 5 string bass.

Some users can't feel the difference between the Korean and Indonesian ones. Do you have an opinion on this?

Unfortunately I haven’t played the Indonesian version.

But from what I understand / have read, but I believe the main differences are, is that it has a different type of body wood.

I’m not sure what it is, but it’s slightly heavier in weight.
