I'm not receiving message notification emails, settinng checked - nothing has changed - is there a problem?

No, nothing to do with that, there is a blacklist. Although you are on gmail which isn't blacklisted, so I would check your junk folder actually on the gmail website - I originally had nothing in my email but then went to the website and checked junk and found a message there which I said was not junk and had messages after that

So if I could change my email address to my gmail or duck one I'd be able to receive emails from basschat?

Though it doesn't give the option to change email address, and if it did I would still have to remember my long-forgotten secret question-answer in order to change it...

It would, but obviously we are looking to fix this. email addresses can be changed

Drop me a PM if you would like to change your email.  We've had to remove that ability from members due to accounts being set up and sold on by scammers.

I'm often not seeing a red dot with new PMs and realised this morning that unread PMs are no longer highlighted in black in the PM list as I'd missed some, might be something I've done but it seems to be getting worse rather than better?

I have not seen / heard of that. Also the email system has nothing to do with the PM functionality

Oddly having just checked I'm getting emails for some PMs and not for others and it looks systematic, i.e., if I get an email for one message in the thread I seem to get an email for all messages in that thread, but vice versa also
