Ernie Ball Music Man Sterling 4H

Reluctantly relisting my 2001 EBMM Sterling in long discontinued and much loved honeyburst with rosewood fretboard.

Will entertain trades involving a Precision/Jazz of equivalent (or lower) value. Could also be tempted by an offer involving a JMJ/Vintera II Mustang.

The bass is in great condition for its age, though there are some scuffs and marks commensurate with two decades of use, and it weighs in at 4.2kg.

Original white pickguard reinstalled and electrical tape removed since the majority of these photos were taken (see above), up-to-date photos to follow shortly.

Original hard case included which, admittedly, is in less good condition than the bass itself (see photo of missing clasp) but still provides adequate protection.

Collection from Haywards Heath, West Sussex preferred, but I would be happy to deliver or meet within a reasonable distance.

Any questions, requests for additional photos etc, just let me know!

Just out of curiosity, why did you tape up the pickup?  It certainly looks much better without, but I guess the reason was more sonic than visual?

Old trick to stop the clank when strings hit the magnets if you have an aggressive attack and the pickup high/action low.

Kev has pretty much nailed it - a couple of tweaks to the action and pickup height, plus the fact that I’m primarily playing with a pick these days, led to me restoring the bass to its original look and I agree it’s far more aesthetically pleasing!
