For sale is my Roscoe LG3005 Custom 5 USA string bass including original Roscoe lightweight case.

I’ve had 2 of these basses over the years and they both live up to their reputation as quality instruments made by one of the best luthiers around. The bass is very versatile, balances well and easy to play. Why sell? Well, the merry-go-round of gear continues and I’ve decided I need to apply the rule as one comes in, another goes out.

Looking at the 2017 pricing brochure (attached) from the Roscoe website it looks like, new, this bass would be around the £4,000+ price range before shipping and taxes!

The colour "Trans Red Gloss" is show in the photos both in direct sunlight and indoors. The 5th photo (close up body shot) is probably closest to the actual colour you see. There are some very small marks on the top part of the body (circled on the photos). These seem to only be in the top clear coat of the finish. On the back of the bass there is a laptop screen protector! I kid you not. I have used this on a number of my basses which reduces the chance of buckle rash. Peels off easy and doesn’t leave marks or residue.

Collection preferred from Aberdeen so you can try it out but as Aberdeen is a long way from most of civilisation, I will ship to mainland UK at cost using Parcelforce. I’ve estimated this based on a London postcode to be £20 via Express24 (without insurance)

Make sure you get the thin flexi ones as they cut with scissors. I bought these. (No affiliation) The other tempered glass ones just shatter.....3 guesses how I know....duh!🤣

One of the few left on my list of basses I`d really like to try, especially after the famous Bass Player magazine  test of 5 strings

” The 5 string shoot out” or something like that.

However, what I`ve experienced is that instruments with a slight off-set of the body neck joint comparred to traditional Fender style of the 12th. fret in line with the position of the strap lock on the upper horn, in this case it`s at the 14th. can make playing the first frets a “Stretched “ experience. The worst in this case are Warwick Thumbs and old Alembic series 1/ Stanley Clark models.

Funny enough not with the wonderful Warrier Dran Michael Signature I traded years ago with Acebass, and stupidly sold after a while. It had the joint around the 14th.fret and played wonnderful. Same with a couple of other basses, and then a problem with Warwick Streamers, Jerzy Drodz and other I`ve have had.

So guys, to those of you who have owned and played them, what`s your experience?

Warwick Streamer and Thumb owner here. The Streamer hangs more "traditionally" for want of a better word. The Thumb was a bass I had to get to know. We're now so well acquainted that all other basses to me almost feel like the first fret is now right under my nose! It's what you play repeatedly and get used to in my opinion. I'd never get rid of it as that tone seems unavailable anywhere else.

I know what you mean about offset bodies....loved the sound of the Thumb I had but found the short top horn pushed things a little too far to the left. I cant say I've really noticed the Roscoe being "left biased". I have fitted Dunlop dual use straplocks where they can be used with a standard strap or the Dunlop fittings. When I double checked  where the Dunlop straplock plugs in, its at the 13th fret.
