Newfoundfreedom Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Just watched the Fire Aid benefit concert and I have to say I really enjoyed it. While it might seem slightly harder to feel sorry for millionaire actors and musicians as opposed to starving people in Africa. We have to remember that so many have lost everything in the California fires. All that aside. Probably one of the best "live" (as in recorded live) concerts I've seen in years. The stand out moments for me were Alanis Morisette and No Doubt. Well worth a watch. 1 Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Alanis was great, Chilis weren't bad, Nirvana I'm not so sure about. I'm watching it a bit at a time. 2 Quote
walshy Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Ive seen some clips but I must watch it all. Stevie Wonder, Sting and Flea doing Higher Ground was decent ( less Sting more Stevie would've been better ) and the Nirvana slot was cool 2 Quote
Newfoundfreedom Posted February 2 Author Posted February 2 Stevie Nicks was pretty damn good too. 🤘 3 Quote
steantval Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Thoroughly enjoyed 90% of that special concert, epic sound mix with the bass really sounding great, Pink was the standout vocalist for me, that lady can really sing, Flee didn’t have to spend much on his stage outfit 😀 The quality of musicianship was outstanding and it made me feel quite emotional at times, it’s something that hits me as I get older. 4 Quote

The stand out moments for me were Alanis Morisette and No Doubt. Well worth a watch. Watched it last night. Usually those long benefit concerts can't hold my attention. But I couldn't get away from this one. I watched the whole thing. To me it was a great example of where we're at with pop music. Everyone seemed to be on fire. From Rod Stuart to Earth Wind & Fire and everything in between. Stevie Nick's band held their groove like nobody's business. Stevie & Sting's " Higher Ground" was fantastic. I could go on and on about the performances and the productions. It was Pink that really got me into it. When you've got the time and your in the right mood please watch it. Daryl 1 Quote

Lozz196 Posted Wednesday at 18:48 Posted Wednesday at 18:48 Just watching Alanis Morissettes set, incredibly good (and nice to see a Gibson Les Paul bass too). Quote
Russ Posted Wednesday at 19:19 Posted Wednesday at 19:19 It was a great show. My highlights were Nirvana - having a succession of very different singers made those all-too-familiar tunes sound fresh, and they were obviously enjoying themselves. And Violet Grohl has a bright future ahead of her. Pink was fantastic, and Joni Mitchell smashed it, even at 82. She was accompanied by a bloke playing fretless guitar, and it sounded amazing. And Billie Eilish surprised me. You can tell how good a singer is when it's just them and an acoustic guitar, and she passed the test and is worthy of at least some of her hype. As for the others, No Doubt - Gwen not sounding great. Standard issue stuff from them. Chilis - same. Was nice to see Flea show up with Stevie to do Higher Ground though! Alanis - good. She's still got it. EWF - super funky. Verdine killing it on his white Sadowsky. Stevie Nicks - not bad. Sting - excellent. Stevie - amazing. Quote
