Doctor J Posted Thursday at 09:04 Posted Thursday at 09:04 If you feel embarrassed about the music you like, the music ain't the problem. Why would you feel you need to keep something like that a secret? 4 Quote

12stringbassist Posted Thursday at 12:45 Posted Thursday at 12:45 I quite like playing music that I like over the PA before we come on and seeing some baffled faces. We don't try to educate people with our set, but the PA is my domain. A few of the songs from playlists that have confused folks... 'Bay City Rollers we love you' (Nick Lowe as The Tartan Horde). 'Let's get f***ed up' (The Cramps) 'Bite it' (Cheap Trick) 'My kingdom for a car' (Jason and The Scorchers) 'F*** it up' (Ian Hunter) 'Drunk in a band' (Del Amitri) Various Sparks / XTC / Zappa things.. Mykesbass Posted Thursday at 13:10 Posted Thursday at 13:10 Nothing secret, but I love the whole 12" version of Donna Summer's McArthur Park Suite. Also like The Carpenters, Bacharach and David and First Aid Kit. Quote
EssentialTension Posted Thursday at 13:30 Posted Thursday at 13:30 I'm an adult so I don't need to have musical secrets. If I like something I'll say so and if you're interested I'll give you an account of why I like it. If you don't like me liking it then that's your problem. 1 Quote
Bassassin Posted Thursday at 17:44 Posted Thursday at 17:44 I don't really get the whole 'guilty secret' thing regarding music. Fair enough when I was a 15 year old punk/headbanger kid; admitting I found Abba's 'Arrival' album utterly joyous probably wouldn't have been easy for my tunnel-vision peer group to accept. But as a grown-up prog rocker/metalhead, I know that good music's good music, talented artists are in all genres - even the ones miserable old gits like (most of) us moan about 'not being real music'. If it's good, it's good, if you like it, then you like it. Taylor Swift is a genius. Quote
Man.about.Tyne Posted Thursday at 18:12 Posted Thursday at 18:12 Since you mention The Carpenters, I have to say I have to recommend a listen to the “Karen Carpenter, less is more, school of drumming” on “For all we know” Genius. Quote

bassbiscuits Posted Thursday at 20:17 Posted Thursday at 20:17 No guilt about it - as a lifelong metal and rock fan, I still adore the Communards “Don’t Leave Me This Way,” oodles of 90s house music, and Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made for Walking.” 1 Quote

Like you I like what I like and couldn't care less about secrets This question , a few pints with musician friends is a great time. Try it sometime You might like it Have a good one CC Quote

The Bass players are all great that play with them. Heavy , fast , technical , and the ability to slow it down and play with heart when I don't expect it. Guthrie Govan and Andy James are in complete control of each and every note. Thanks for your reply C.C. Quote

Doctor J Posted Thursday at 21:37 Posted Thursday at 21:37 You should try the first Megadeth album, they heavied up These Boots 40 years ago. Quote

Take a little detour onto Youtube and do a search for Tori Holub - maybe weve only just begun. 2 Quote
