Stepping up my search for a band - Facebook help sought

Following a move to the midlands and a couple of months looking at JMB and Bandmix I'm feeling I need to go back on the dreaded Facebook. 

 

Shortly after leaving that platform I saw a thread on here and there was some advice about how to tame the ads and spam on there - various browser plugins and settings. Could anyone who contributed please direct me to the old thread? Thanks.
