Shelves above a stack of cases

I've seen a couple of pics on here where people have a load of hard cases lined up against the wall, with shelves above. I'd like to replicate that, but probably won't be able to fix shelves to the wall. Anyone got designs on how to build a freestanding thing?

Ikea Ivar or Hejne, just don't put shelves in the lower part.

Ivar is what i'm using, you are advised to anchor it to the wall at the top though, i've got a whole wall of it in my study/music room, I'd take a photo but the room's such a mess i doubt it would be much use to you!

 

I'm using the shallower one and the cases to stick out, but they're well enough supported.

I'm using an RB Boss Shelf which I got online from Wicks. Industrial grade, free standing and not fixed to the wall, although it does have a couple of wedges under the front feet to just angle it back slightly. You can put the two middle shelves wherever you like.

If you dropped the 2nd shelf after angling the guitars a bit more I reckon you could get another row of shortscales in it and have toom left over.

Ikea Ivar. I've got two full walls of it in my room including space for cases, a couple of desktops, shelves, storage drawers.

Been using it for decades now and it has all moved with me twice.

Very sturdy, very flexible.

One of those looks suspiciously like a banjo case. Have you got something you need to tell us?

2 old-time banjos, 3 tenor banjos, 3 bouzoukis, 2 guitars and 2 Weissenborns. That's the middle shelf. There's an accordion on the bottom shelf too.
