Looking for a smooth, warm tone that can be clearly heard and distinguished. Hamster
Don't the fortress series have slimmer necks?
Lew-Bass
Had a little look and was wondering; does the Ibanez SR500L match my needs? or is there something else more appropriate?
Machines
The Ibanez would do you nicely, they sound pretty good too ! I'd say they sound pretty growly, they're not unlike Warwicks in some aspects.
yorick
Have a look at the Yamaha BB414. Admittedly. it's a PJ pickup up arrangement, but the neck is very jazz-ish and it does sound good. Well within your budget as well. I use one too.
