Afternoon all.
Name’s Chaz. Based in Leicestershire and play in a local covers band The Stop Startz. Perennial G.A.S. problem but currently rocking a Sterling Ray4 alongside a host of 6 strings. Co-Founder of a hot sauce brand. First round dropout on Masterchef. Looking to chat gear, chat sauce (been recommended to an hot sauce thread by a co-worker) and potentially look a sub-in’s for gigs around the Leicestershire area.

Hope everyone is having a spectacular Tuesday!

As a hot sauce co-founder, what’s your go-to sauce for adding heat without overpowering the flavor?

I’m gonna caveat this by obviously cheap plugging one of our own as well as another option If it’s just straight up heat I’d go for something with a really pared back ingredients list (chillies, acid and not a lot else). Some of the hotter single chilli variants like the naga or scorpion sauces from Wiltshire Chilli Farm are really nice. But *PLUG WARNING* our Judgement Neigh Sauce is a blend of 4 peppers, lime juice, a little onion and not a lot else. Good universal heat but something that’s there to compliment rather than overpower.

There's a hot sauce thread? Woop!

Yes, cunningly concealed where you’d never find it under the name “hot sauces” - kindly linked above  👍

Really?

I find that interesting.  I'm not buying into it though.

I hope this does not continue beyond this thread.  Best of luck with your bass though.

May I ask;  What is your interest in this forum?  I'd love to see your bass and rig.

Well of course you may as you’ve asked so nicely. Invited by a chap from my work as I hit the brief…ie 4 string in the arsenal. And a few people in the hot sauce thread were apparently interested in chatting as well so multiple birds with one stone. Also thought it might be a good avenue to explore looking for stand-ins if we ever need them for the covers band I play in.

Below is my Sterling alongside my LP. Rig-wise, fairly non existent at the moment. I’m very much a home jammer when it comes to bass these days so it’s either my Spark amp or if I’m messing around on a laptop I use the trusty Cory Wong Neural DSP plugin.

Maybe I'm going senile but I am quite sure that I asked the question of someone else.  Thank you for the photo however.

Good luck

Just to make it clear for new readers I asked my colleague chaz to update his website for the benefit of hot sauce fans.

It then emerged that he was a player of real basses as well as the lesser “fun sized” variety and so totally eligible to join despite his ownership of toy basses

Welcome aboard!

I know why you were chucked out of MasterChef - it was that dish with the raw horsemeat wasn't it?

@HeatHorseChaz got his name while a member of the SAS.

Lost on a desperate mission, out of food, fuel, radio contact, and good ideas, they were forced to shoot a wild horse to eat. Chas was ravenous and piled straight in, slicing meat off a leg before they had even got a fire going. The sergeant 's shout "Hey! At least heat the horse Chas!" quickly became a platoon catch phrase and then his nickname.

Busted. I took the phrase “horses for courses” far too literally.
