LowB_FTW Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Oohh I do like that silver. Now if only they did that colour in the newly announced 5-string Triad. Mark 1 Quote
sPiKi Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Has anyone been able to compare a TG to a Mercalli? Same pickups but different construction..Just wondering if there's a significant difference. 1 Quote

No real difference other than the Mercalli bolted-on neck vs the set neck and raised center section on the Thundergun. 1 Quote

To be fair, the silver would've looked good against any of the backgrounds from the other images too, but yes, I also saw what you highlighted. 😂 Mark Quote

jd56hawk Posted February 17 Author Posted February 17 (edited) By the way, only 4 Venetian Gold Thunderguns available. Two in the UK...one on Reverb. Other than that, the background wasn't exactly the problem It was lighting. Sure, a darker grey would've worked better, but... Edited February 17 by jd56hawk Quote

I felt it sounded better, brighter generally, just a bit more alive ( plus the mercalli was a bit cheaper which helped). However I would definitely go with the opinion of someone who has loved with both over my very brief impressions. Quote
sPiKi Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Thanks Bassmidget. I have a Mercalli but have always wanted to try a TG. I like the new colours and you know how it is when you get a guitar fixation. Have tried to sell my Mercalli on here but used market seems tough atm and had little interest. What did you think of the new TG colours having seen them in person? Quote
HeadlessBassist Posted February 20 Posted February 20 That transparent red is very nice. Might have to have a look around t'internet to find some in stock. Quote

What do they actually sound like? I can't remember any other bass with a P/H pickup configuration. Quote
BassApprentice Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Nipped into Merchant City music today for a wander. Decided to try some of the Reverends. The colours are always so good in that range! Tried the Thundergun, Mercalli and Decision P. All basses very similar fit and finish wise. Really nice necks. Mercalli and Thundergun very similar to me, found the tone good, but the tone became quite treble heavy with not too much turning of the tone knob. Not bad but not quite for me. Decision P just felt better for me, pickup placement for my anchor points and just liked the tone. If one or two more things sell I might be tempted... Venetian gold Thundergun pic attached 3 Quote
