TbirdnTalman Posted Wednesday at 10:19 Posted Wednesday at 10:19 (edited) so, hot on the heels on the other thread around Tbirds, I was just about to ask a similar question... Does anyone know if it is possible to put a Hipshot drop tuner / extender onto the HB 75MN Jazz neck that I have on my seriously modded HB PB 20 bass, and if so which one? I emailed Thomann and they wouldn't commit! Based on this Harley Benton Parts JBass Tuners Set Chrome – Thomann (Shaft Ø: 13.9mm Impact sleeve / bushing for the head plate requires bore Ø 18.3 mm) I think that it might be these Hipshot H20800C BT8 D-Tuner CR – (Axle diameter: 13.86 mm) or Hipshot H 21200 C BT 12 D Tuner CR – (Axle diameter: 13.86 mm) or even (prob not) a BT-7D but would appreciate any advice please if possible Many thanks for your collective wisdom / experience, and yes I know that the tuner is worth so much relative to the bass but it also has SD pickups and a new bridge too, so may as well go for it 🙂 Edited Wednesday at 10:24 by TbirdnTalman added detail Quote
Delberthot Posted yesterday at 06:53 Posted yesterday at 06:53 I put a full set of Hipshot Ultralites on my HB75, including an Xtender on the E. I find that the shaft diameter of the Hipshots are rarely even remotely close to being the same size as the holes in the headstock of the average bass so I usually cut a sheet of A4 lengthwise and wrap it around each tuner before feeding it through and screwing into place. The only time they have fitted properly without using this method was when I specified the diameter of the holes for my Status Jazz neck. Quote
prowla Posted yesterday at 08:57 Posted yesterday at 08:57 I'd suggest adding a couple of photos showing the headstock. Hipshot do loads of tuners and there can be variations in post diameter on the same base plate. Quote
StingRayBoy42 Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago If you email Hipshot, they're always really helpful. I've had a couple of dealings with them and they've been great - once asked whick D-tuner my old Squier needed, they replied quicksharp asking for photos of the tuner, with measurements, told me which one it needed (which they didn't make any more), thn got back in touch to sell me one they'd found lying around! TbirdnTalman Posted 22 hours ago Author Posted 22 hours ago Thanks all, I’ll email them. I’m not sure if the fender one is the right one even though it feels like it should be! best wishes Quote

If you want to try my tuner I'm happy to sell it to you, post paid, and if it is not what you want, just return it it to me and I'll give you a full refund. Let me know. Cheers, Graham Quote
