It was designed to work best on my iPhone and anytime I'm half watching TV or listening to music I can go through a bit of one of the lists very easily. Its a bit like Macro Data Refinement — sometimes a word just 'feels' like it should be removed or kept. Wow, that really is a labour of love! Fair play to ya! Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted Monday at 16:10 Author Posted Monday at 16:10 (edited) I've just pushed a new update to bandname.uk that allows you to click on any of the entries to swap the order of the two words for that entry. The 'copy to clipboard' link should also reflect the swappage. I have removed a few unsuitable words that came up in testing, and still need to whittle down the word lists a bit more. I am leaving in *normal* sweary words for comedic effect at the moment, but if anyone looking at it comes across any words I have missed that could be used as slurs directed at a specific demographic, or similar undesirable words, please let me know. paulbuzz Posted Monday at 16:44 Posted Monday at 16:44 Nice! If I may be so bold, I'd like to offer a couple of opinions, not on the functionality but on the UI. 1) Maybe have less bandnames per page? I think 24 is perhaps too many to take in at a time? On the other hand, on my (ordinary-ish?) size screens, on page load, without scrolling, I can only initially see 8 names on my desktop screen, and 4 on my phone. Since the 'generate' button is readily accessible, I would be more inclined to simply press 'generate' to see more, rather than scrolling, except... 2) The UI animations: a) The fireworks are fun, but become distracting and a bit much after a few hits of the generate button. b) The fade-in of the band names slows you down if you're hitting the generate button repeatedly in quick succession Do feel free to ignore me completely - maybe other people have larger screens than me...? Nice URL, btw Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted Monday at 17:25 Author Posted Monday at 17:25 I'll probably get bored of the confetti effect at some point, but I'm still enjoying it for now. 1 Quote

I think this has a better visual effect and you're not waiting so long to start reading. 1 Quote

The word "prescious" is an obsolete adjective meaning foreknowing or having foreknowledge, derived from the Latin "praescius". It's a word that is no longer in common use so I've removed it 1 1 Quote

I would have missed this tweak if you hadn't posted, since I had used Stylus (gawdblessit!) to adjust the display to my preference, as is my habit! 😁 Quote

I was prescient this would get some more discussion. Quote
paulbuzz Posted Wednesday at 08:29 Posted Wednesday at 08:29 So do prescious and prescient have the same meaning? Or is there a distinction I'm missing? Quote
