Clarky Posted February 25 Posted February 25 My left hand, which I damaged in a horse accident in 2023, has regained a decent amount of mobility in the past year and my main issue nowadays is a degenerative neck condition (which could also have been hastened by aforementioned accident). So a long scale bass is now more comfortable for me (I have been using short scales almost exclusively) ... but it has to be super light. I spotted this Fender Traditional 60s P bass at FenderFever and it stated an amazing weight of 7.6 pounds. I asked them to double check and they confirmed. So I snaffled it and installed a DiMarzio DP122 creme pickup for the full Martyn P Casey of the Bad Seeds look. Very happy with it. No band at present but, when I get back in the saddle (obvs not a horse one), it should be very gig friendly. 10 Quote
ezbass Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Ooh, nice! I have 3 basses this weight (and less) and they are a delight to play compared to my not significantly heavier basses. Weirdly enough, my JMJ shorty is the heaviest of all my basses and my Rob Allen 35” the lightest - go figure. Great to hear of the physical improvement, long may it continue. 1 Quote

Just thought I'd mention that the new Sire models with the 6 designation (V6, P6, M6) which were unveiled at NAMM are designed specifically to be lightweight - based upon their blurb - "The 6-series models are focused on being lightweight (under 8 lbs. based on a 4-string variant) and playable while retaining the signature qualities of Sire's best-sellers. Based on our 4-string samples, the weights are 7 lbs 14 oz and 6 lbs 15 oz." Read your post and thought it might be relevant and of interest... 1 1 Quote
Bix Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Love these MIJs, they are built so well. I just bought a used MIJ International Colour P which I thought was light at 8.3lbs. All the best going forward. 1 Quote
Lozz196 Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Looks great @Clarky, I’ve been thinking of one of the MIJ Precisions too, quality instruments. Quote

They have an arctic white P in stock that only weighs 7.7 pounds https://fenderfever.com/products/fender-mij-traditional-ii-70s-precision-bass-2024-arctic-white 1 1 Quote
