shoulderpet Posted February 26 Posted February 26 (edited) Playing a lot more New order bass lines recently and my band will be adding Monaco What do you want from me to our set list and I am finding I am running out of frets, does anyone make a 24 fret short scale with 19mm spacing? I have seen a Stagg bass that fits the bill but Stagg basses are a bit of gamble quality wise. I am tempted to get one of the short scale Ibanez 5 string basses and string it E to C but I fear I may not gel with a 5 string Thanks Edited February 26 by shoulderpet Quote
BigRedX Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Eastwood do a 4-string version of their Hooky Pro Bass with 24 frets. Don't know about the string spacing but you could always ask them. Quote
ezbass Posted February 26 Posted February 26 The Ibanez EHB1000S is a headless shorty with 19mm spacing, if you can source one and the body shape is OK for you. Quote
Merton Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Most of Alan Cringean’s short scale creations are 19mm and 24 frets if you can stretch to one https://acguitars.co.uk/for-sale/ 1 Quote

shoulderpet Posted February 26 Author Posted February 26 Thanks for the replies, I am seriously tempted by the Ibanez talman short scale 5 string.... But... Will I be able to get along with a 5 string? Quote
Pauld Posted February 27 Posted February 27 The 5 string Talman has 18mm spacing at the bridge. The 4 string is 19mm. Quote
fretmeister Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Sandberg will do a Lionel with an extended fingerboard. They made some full scale extended ones for Doug Johns after Pedulla shut down. Custom order though with a good 18 month waiting list. Quote
benebass Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Would 22 frets be enough? The Cort Action Jr is a pretty amazing bass for the money. Shameless plug, but I'm thinking of moving this one on in Hooky red... 😉👍 Quote
shoulderpet Posted March 2 Author Posted March 2 Thanks for the replies, I ended up going with a cheapie option for now, the Hofner shorty, is actually pretty good for the money, setup is good, action is low, sounds surprisingly full considering the placement of the pickup. I may get something higher end in time but this is good for now 1 Quote

Did my usual thing of watching it, checking regularly & then forgetting about it until about an hour after it sold for about £100. FFS. Quote
Sweenyrod Posted Wednesday at 19:03 Posted Wednesday at 19:03 My 32 Fender Urge has 24 frets and 19mm spacing. It's on ebay and on here for sale! Smaller body than all short scales and super light, active with kubicki preamp. Quote
