JJMotown Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Played a mates '83 BC Rich Eagle last night, made in Japan, lovely koa neck thru construction. Played a dream, but has so many knobs even he didn't know what they all did. Has double dimarzio p pickups, sounds huge. Anyone own or played one, any info about them? Quote
dudewheresmybass Posted February 27 Posted February 27 you might find some decent info on the BC rich junkies Fb page. There's loads of very knowledgeable chapos on there including some ex higherups Equally messaging Neil Moser on fb might help - He designed the circuits 1 Quote
W1_Pro Posted February 27 Posted February 27 I've got an NJ Mockingird which Neal made me a new preamp circuit for as the bass was a bit beaten up when I first bought it. Fantastic bass. I'm still not really sure what all the knobs and switches do- one of them is some sort of click stop filter, but it does sound pretty brutal if you get the right combination going. 1 Quote
JJMotown Posted February 27 Author Posted February 27 Is yours standard or reverse P version. I see theres both, the one I played is a reverse P. I've played reverse P basses before, but never a double reverse P, really liked it, especially the pickup nearest the Bridge. Quote
Bassassin Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Always had a bit of GAS for one of these. I'm not a BCR expert but I think '83 would be an NJ series - Nagoya, Japan. These were most likely made by Kasuga Gakki, which was a top-tier Japanese manufacturer at the time. 2 Quote
W1_Pro Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Mine is a double reverse P. The pickups- dimarzio blades- are not original but they sound phenomenal. The bass was black when I boought it, so I stripped and oiled it and put the new circuit in. Really great bass. I 8 Quote
bloke_zero Posted February 28 Posted February 28 I have a serious 'want' for one of these, I love the shape, the idea of the electronics, through neck. Maybe one day! 1 Quote
White Cloud Posted February 28 Posted February 28 I once owned a Japanese Eagle. Stunning instrument. Quote

silverfoxnik Posted Saturday at 09:46 Posted Saturday at 09:46 I used to own this one back in the 90s... It's currently resides in Oli Foxen's studio in Bristol AFAIK. 1 Quote
W1_Pro Posted Saturday at 09:48 Posted Saturday at 09:48 Thank you Nik. As regards Neal, I'm honestly not sure . The website (nealmoserguitars.com) is still active so I would guess so. 1 Quote

Bought from the old Bass Centre in Wapping. I spent a day there, tried out loads of basses, and came away with the Eagle. £450 at the time I think. When I stopped playing in 1996, I stupidly sold it to a guy who played bass for a Metal /Doom kind of band called Cathedral (or something like that..) He sold it to Oli in 2015, by which time it had a a bad neck break which was very well repaired at the time I think... Having said all of that, the Black Eagle I own now I've had since 2004 and have done so many gigs with it and still love it... So, all's well that ends well, etc, etc.. 😁 Quote

I have to say that I'd still nab it in a heartbeat lol Quote
