Looks as if it's been sweated on a lot and put away for a few years with those rusted up bridge springs and screws and the spotty pickup poles and strings. Machine heads look in pretty good order, don't think there's an issue with where it's been stored. Whoever strung it up has no idea about how to deal with string ends though. And I would guess that it ought to be half that price.

I've owned basses in worse condition, but those strings.....

The Fender rosewood necks have had a mixed reception with much talk of movement/instability and sharp/protruding frets, which is a shame because they look bloody lovely :(Ā

Good to know as it was the RW neck that drew me to it. There was a similar strat in my LGS which was absolutely stunning and I wondered why it had taken them so long to sell it.

Likewise although it being a Jazz it was never going to work really!Ā

I've just looked at the pics on my computer as opposed to my phone and you're right, it's in worse condition than I'd initially thought. might be wrong but the frets look to be either extremely dirty, tarnished or even rusty? Either was I'd be giving it a wide berthĀ Ā

They look dirty to me rather than rusty. If I wanted a painted 4-string that was far too expensive simply for the name on the headstock, I'd consider this.

I have one of these and have used it for hundreds of gigs.

Itā€™s an amazing bass and the Rosewood board is solid as a rock and beautifully made.

Ā

This has the vintage pickups which sound great and a really well designed bridge.

Ā

I paid less than this when the bass was brand new, however.

Hereā€™s mine cuddling a Brompton. Quite why itā€™s doing this I donā€™t know.

Well, in American parlance, fenders are mudguards...
