jazzyvee Posted Tuesday at 08:19 Posted Tuesday at 08:19 (edited) Are you brand loyal? My first dive into bass cabs was Mesa Powerhouse. I ended up with a 4x10, 2x10 and 1x15 of which the most used was the 4x10. Sold those and replaced them with Barefaced due to better low end performance, weight saving and as i found out, my ears heard better sound quality. BTII, BBII, DUBSTER 2, LF800. Initially i was looking at the first dubster after speaking to BF and they were going to loan me one to try out but the bassie from UB40 was still using it on loan. So i later got a BTII.. Main cab is still the BTII, then BBII singularly or in combination with Dubster if not in the PA on an outdoor reggae gig. LF800 so far has only used with my EUB and schertler Unico. So i guess i'm brand loyal and could see me adding a One10T at some point. Edited Tuesday at 08:20 by jazzyvee Quote
Merton Posted Tuesday at 11:33 Posted Tuesday at 11:33 (edited) Two different BF cabs here too - one Two10S for smaller/quieter gigs or those with big PAs, and a Super Twin for when I need to be loud or there’s no PA support Edited Tuesday at 11:33 by Merton Quote
franzbassist Posted Tuesday at 11:49 Posted Tuesday at 11:49 Two cabs from the German maker FMC here. A compact 8ohm 112UL for rehearsals and small gigs, and a more powerful 4ohm 1210UL for big stuff. 1 Quote
Lozz196 Posted Tuesday at 12:03 Posted Tuesday at 12:03 (edited) I`m fairly brand loyal, in various set-ups I`ve had: Ashdown 210 & 210 ABM PRO NEO Ashdown 410 and 210 ABM EVO IV Marshall 410 & 210 Ampeg 410 & 210 HLE Hartke 210 & 115 XL Markbass 112 combo & 112 ext spkr I`ve always had the cabs from the same range as well, for both sound and OCD reasons Edited 4 hours ago by Lozz196 Quote
police squad Posted Tuesday at 14:39 Posted Tuesday at 14:39 I have 2 mark bass cabs 1x15 club and 2x10 club very occasionally I'll use both but stick with the 15 generally, (lighter and PA support) There's an ashdown RM 4x10 too which comes out on bigger stages Quote
casapete Posted Tuesday at 15:54 Posted Tuesday at 15:54 I had a Loud Inc 4x10, then added a 1x15 from the same maker to get the full advantage of two 8 ohm cabs. Then I sold the 1x15 for another identical 4x10 and it was a great rig. Still own one of the 4x10s, and there’s another for sale at the moment on here which I neither need or can afford, but of course still want. 😁 Quote

I do recall doing a Jazz Cafe gig about 8 years ago and there was an old markbass 8x10 cab so I used it instead of my Mesa boogie 4x10 and man that sounded great. Up until I got my BF, that was the only backline cab i've used that was memorable for sounding superb. Quote
BassmanPaul Posted Tuesday at 17:55 Posted Tuesday at 17:55 I bought a pair of Acme B2 two ten three way cabinets. Putting a Low B through them at volume was so delightful I bought another pair! Standing in front of them driven by 2000W is an experience I recommend to any bass player. 1 Quote
chris_b Posted Tuesday at 17:56 Posted Tuesday at 17:56 I am kinda brand loyal-ish. I used Mesa Boogie (2 x 90lbs) for 10 years, Bergantino(2 x 30lbs) for another 10 and for the last 10, Barefaced (2 x 22lbs). The weight of these cabs tracks my physical fitness!! Currently I own a Super Compact, Super Midget, BB2 and 2 One10's. Unless a miracle happens I imagine these cabs will see me out. Quote
SimonK Posted Tuesday at 18:24 Posted Tuesday at 18:24 Yes I have multiple Trace Elliot cabs because they sound awesome, but due to their weight and age can now be picked up for almost nothing. Currently I have the following (roughly grouped how I use them): 2x2103x The first one has replacement speakers that are a bit dodgy, so I grabbed a second for about £40. I only really use the good one now. 1x1153 which is a nice 15 inch speaker to fit under the 2103x 1x1048 for the 4x10 sound 1x2103H for the 2x10 + horn sound 1x1810x it was going for £20 so I thought why not A combo which is essentially a 1048H cab which used to have a GP12 head apart from the previous owner threw it away so I added a GP7 head from a 715 combo, meaning I now have an additional 15 inch speaker in a cab but without a head - not dissimilar to the 1153 as above. This latter one is mainly used as a work bench! So yes that will be 8 Trace Elliots... 1 Quote
Mykesbass Posted Tuesday at 19:08 Posted Tuesday at 19:08 A matching pair of Purple Chilli 112s. Absolutely love them. Had one, couldn't get a second so sold it. Shortly after, a pair came up for sale and I just had to have them. They sound wonderful (slightly warm and vintage to my ears) and are nice and light. They are possibly a little bulky by today's standard, but I'll live with that. Shame Mike doesn't make them anymore - too busy making his fabulous Zoot bases? Quote

dclaassen Posted Tuesday at 19:26 Posted Tuesday at 19:26 Two Genz Benz 112’s for most things, but the Trace Elliot 410 and 115 are in the garage. Trace vintage power…GP12 smx 400w. I am thinking about getting an Elf for home and small/ medium gigs 2 Quote
dudewheresmybass Posted Tuesday at 19:44 Posted Tuesday at 19:44 i have 2 Marshall 410s and a 115 as a mix and match situation for the venues I play in Quote

They've never all been in the same place as I tend to leave them where I play - far too heavy to steal or move unnecessarily! Mind you writing the above post did make me think that this summer I should get them all together in one place just for the fun of it - I've probably also got enough heads and splitter pedals to power the whole lot as one big rig which would be entertaining - I could use bass chat members to see how far away they could hear me from! 1 Quote
Treb Posted Tuesday at 20:54 Posted Tuesday at 20:54 (edited) Three Trickfish cabs: 2x TF112 1x TF410V Why Trickfish? Well together with the Trickfish amps (Bullhead Mini & .5K) the sound out of my rigs is exactly what I want it to sound like. I have a gentle EQ curve on my Source Audio EQ2. I rarely use the EQ on the amps. MarkBass cabs 2x New York 804 Cool little cabs (like mini 410's), but not nearly as nice sounding as the Trickfish ones. When you crank the amp you can feel them pushing the air in your back, feels nice. Edited 23 hours ago by Treb Quote
VTypeV4 Posted yesterday at 08:56 Posted yesterday at 08:56 I own a few rigs that have multiple cabs from the same.. 2x SWR Goliath Jr III (2x10 + HF). When a friend was moving to lighter cabs about ten years ago, he sold these to me at a great price and I figured two cabs made for a modular rig although being honest, I've nearly always used both together. Trace Elliot 2103H & 1153 (2x10 + HF and 1x15 respectively). These came with a Trace AH400SMX a few years back but currently they're used with my Trace V6. I use both as the V6 requires a maximum load of 4 ohms so both together achieve this. They do have a different sonic characters but seem to work well enough together. Ampeg 410HE and 115E (4x10 + HF and 1x15). Again, the cabs came as part of a rig - an SVT CL sits on top of both as, much like the V6, the SVT doesn't want to see anything greater than four ohms total load. Trace Elliot V-Type 4808 and 115 (super compact 4x8 and 1x15) This mini-rig is powered by a Trace Elliot AH300SMX and is a pokey little power house. The 1x15 is good enough but the 4x8 will knock a hole in a wall - it's true gem of a cab and would happily swap the 1x15 out for another 4x8. I appreciate using two cabs with a different configuration operating over the same frequency range can cause phase correlation and potential dispertion issues but given most gigs are via a house system these days, I think it's probably less of a problem especially if the rig is used as the local monitor. It's fair to say that with any 'stack', most of what is heard close to the rig will be the top cab anyways - particularly if that cab is a little more sensitive, voiced with more midrange or fitted with an addional mid or HF unit. Downunderwonder Posted yesterday at 10:09 Posted yesterday at 10:09 Never owned more than one cab from anyone. Quote
DaleASmith Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago 4 Ashdown cabs. ABM410 x 2 ( one is an old 410 combo cut down) ABM210 Compact ( 500 watt version) ABM115 Compact ( 500 watt version) ✌️ Quote
neepheid Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I wasn't bothered about it until my current rig. It's a bit of a cheat because one is a combo (but what is a combo but a cab which happens to have an amp built into it?) but Markbass Mini CMD 121P IV Markbass New York 121 The matching size and appearance does please me, ngl. JPJ Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I started my SWR obsession with the old 4x10 + 1x15 combination, then went to the 2 x 4x10’s , then the 6x10, before finally realising that for anything less than a stadium gig (which I’ve never had the pleasure of playing) I only really needed a single cab (first a SWR 4x10, then lately a Vanderkley 2x12). I now don’t own any SWR cabs and I’m playing more and more gigs with no backing at all. Funny how things change as you age 😎 1 Quote
