Hi!

Many years ago i had a TRBX305. It was loong ago. Now i want to get back to Yamaha and can't decide what to buy - 305 or 605. Tell me please, how are they now, through years? What bass is better in mix, what bass has better "to live with" option? I've heard that 504/5 had some problems with preamp long time ago, and electronics are same in 604/5. I have a nice P bass and want to have a decent modern work horse for live gigs and recording. So, in long run what is better bass for work- 305 or 605? Who used them in live band, gigs, recording? They are old models and we don't have them in stores, so i can't try 605. I will order one of them. My biggest concern is that 605 is named as boutique'ish sounding bass, what in most cases means that it will be buried in mix. Money is not an issue, I've seen Abe use both 305 and 505, but i want only one of them. Thanks in advance guys!

Think you're getting confused with RBX range, and the newer TRBX range. Would be easier to just go and try the models out and decide for yourself.

I think you, probably, did not read my post, friend :)

Trbx line was presented more than 10 years ago. 604/5 models are a little bit younger. And i wrote about triyng :)

I think he was probably just misunderstanding your writing of "many years ago" and "It was loooong ago" as meaning longer than 10 years, which is understandable.

Anyway, back on topic. I've only tried them in shops, but the 604 has technically nicer finishes, but biggest difference is the controls. The 304 has the presets, which are actually pretty cool, but again this is only from briefly playing. The 604 had a fill 3 band so was a bit more control and can really dial in your tone if you want. Both feel pretty similar, maybe the 604 had a slightly nicer neck. You'd probably be pretty happy with either if you like the look and shape, but electronics are different so need to consider that.

Thanks for answer. Main questions that i wrote were: "Who used them in live band, gigs, recording?" And "Tell me please, how are they now, through years? What bass is better in mix, what bass has better "to live with" option?" - questions about experience from people who work with basses. I mean people who work in band, who record them and use in live situations
