Lots and lots of basses.

I think it’s fine to add pictures for info but if you’re selling it’s usually the done thing to subscribe. (It costs the people who run the forum quite a lot to keep it open I think and the cash helps.)

Best of luck with them all!

Interesting mix of quite quirky and more conventional styles there. I'm enjoying the looks of the one in the first post with the Austrian/Hungarian style scroll and the unconventional wood choices, very individual looking.

Thank you for the heads up. I’ve just done a yearly subscription.

All good. I’m not the internet police and all that, but it’s a great community and worth supporting (which you have).

I’m still utterly in awe that your father had 17 double basses. It’s quite incredible.

Best of luck selling them, and I hope you get a great price.

Believe it or not, I’m not overly interested in getting a good price. I would rather they all go to a good home and know the new owner is happy with it. I think that can only happen on a forum like this.

The idea of putting them in the back of a flatbed and sending them to auction just feels bad to me.

Some absolute beauts in that collection!

Good luck with your sale(s) - and I think anyone getting one of those lovely basses will be giving them a good home.

Hats off to your dad!

Just to let the readers of this thread I had the pleasure of meeting Simon (the OP of the thread) and to see the many double basses he has. It’s quite an eclectic collection with something for everyone. I pleased to say I purchased a loverly double bass (to replace my dead , beyond economic repair laminated DB!!) and we agreed a great price. So if London is not too far for you and you need a double bass I would suggest you contact him soon before they’ve all gone!

Thank you Keith! It was lovely meeting you and your tutor. I think it’s a great idea bringing someone that can shortlist some that would be suitable for your style of playing, and structurally good.

As I said, I’m very happy you got what you wanted for a good price.

I hope you have many years of pleasure playing it!
