Mykesbass Posted Thursday at 18:26 Posted Thursday at 18:26 Having been musically inactive since lockdown (partly due to knowing I would be moving), I've got a try out with an Country/Americana originals band on Sunday, and now a mate at my new work has asked me if I would like to do some really interesting Blues. Why was the timing so bad, or can I fit both in 🤔 4 Quote

Now I grumble about having to rehearse in person and not on jamulus. 2 Quote

BigRedX Posted Thursday at 19:22 Posted Thursday at 19:22 So long as both bands aren't expecting to be out gigging every Friday and Saturday night you should be fine. Quote

I think the Americana band is aiming at being 'selective' in its gigging. Will have a better idea after I meet up with them on Sunday. Quote
Phil Starr Posted Thursday at 19:43 Posted Thursday at 19:43 Early days, how many bands are still going two years after forming/re-forming. I'd be running with both, giviing them my all and enjoying the ride, it'll be a long ride before you get overwhelmed. If both bands are popular and successful well there are worse problems for a musician. 3 Quote
Mykesbass Posted Saturday at 20:42 Author Posted Saturday at 20:42 Made the call today to the guy from work - I'm going for both bands. Wish me luck! 5 Quote
Franticsmurf Posted Sunday at 09:19 Posted Sunday at 09:19 Excellent and good luck with both. From experience, make sure they both know the score re the 'other' band. You might also want to think about how you would deal with clashing gigs. I am in two bands and I have explained to both that's its a first come first served basis - first date in the diary gets priority. That said, some gigs have more importance than others so it may not be as clear cut. You'll need to figure out your own solution that fits the situation. It helps me that I have an 'apprentice' in one band and she can easily step in. Too easily, I think. 😀 1 Quote
Mykesbass Posted Sunday at 16:59 Author Posted Sunday at 16:59 A great first get together with the Americana band. Excellent songs, great guitarist and top attitude. Been invited back, so a fabulous restart after a long hiatus. Now on to the Blues band...after I sort the blister 🫤 3 Quote
