HeadlessBassist Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Go onto Gumtree.co.uk and type "Bass Guitar" into the search & "Ashton-under-Lyne" into the location box... These are all legit basses from one private owner (who I met last week and bought a couple of basses from), who is trying to thin down a massive herd in order to retire and downsize his house. Some lovely bargains here, from very reasonable Squiers to some high end stuff. Apologies in advance for the forthcoming GAS. 🫣 Quote
prowla Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Looked - nothing for me there, but others might find things of interest. 1 Quote

Clarky Posted March 7 Posted March 7 The Spector Ian Hill he has FS was sold last year as B stock by Bass Direct (I was following it and clocked the s/n) at about the same price, from memory. His pics don't clearly show the small dings/scrapes like BD's pics did. Not implying anything untoward here .. its still a very nice bass ...but, if I was buying a resold B stock bass, I would be after more of a discount. 3 1 Quote
Grooverjr Posted March 7 Posted March 7 That is quite the collection but as others have said it's shop prices not private seller prices. That unbranded fretless P is very nice looking, though. Quote
Terry M. Posted March 8 Posted March 8 He's not linked to https://www.sellusyourguitar.co.uk is he by any chance? Also in Ashton-under-Lyne 🤔 Quote
Beedster Posted March 8 Posted March 8 A largely boring collection of basses photographed poorly 2 Quote

Tony Iles isn't a Director of those guys. I sold him something which he collected from my house. He's a nice guy and said he's just a bit of a collector, plays them for a bit for fun and then flips them when he's ready. Does a road trip every now and then round the country collecting basses and amps. My item is still listed and he's not making much on it tbh. He plays in a band and is a good bass player too. 2 Quote

That’s quite a nice way of doing things, he’d fit in well on Basschat 🙂 Quote

Burns-bass Posted March 8 Posted March 8 2 minutes ago, Beedster said: I was assuming it was a shop so please excuse that comment 🙂 This collection reflects what a guitar dealer told me about the state of the guitar market. It's people with huge collections of average gear trying to sell it for shop prices. They kid themselves that these things keep their value, but he'll struggle to shift any of this at these prices. I'm sure the guy is a lovely fella and best of luck with it all. 2 Quote
patrikmarky Posted March 8 Posted March 8 I bought my Warwick pro M 5 string off him and yes a great trustworthy guy to deal with .. 2 Quote

HeadlessBassist Posted March 8 Author Posted March 8 Not bad, Beedster. Swedish prices are a little on the spenny side. Quote
Terry M. Posted March 8 Posted March 8 As has been stated before, great collection but not sure about the prices. There's 2 Yamaha TRB5ii basses currently on Gumtree. His one is £899 and the other one is £525. Quote

We all know people who put stuff up for sale for stupid prices as a way to justify keeping them. Fair play to him. I'd swap them all for a couple of basses I actually used (and the space back, too). 1 Quote

A proper Japanese one, as opposed to the cheaper TRBX? They must be difficult to shift. I think a lot of the pricing issue is down to how much people need the money. I always sell the bass for what it's worth. 1 Quote
