doc40hz Posted Monday at 16:59 Posted Monday at 16:59 I'm very particular about my neck relief and as such I am a big fan of the music man style wheel at the heel of the bass for adjusting the truss rod. Can you buy adaptors that will plug into a hex key? I've ordered a Sire Z7 and noticed that it doesn't have a wheel but there's room for one at the heel I think. Cheers Quote
fretmeister Posted Monday at 17:05 Posted Monday at 17:05 That's an interesting idea. I don't think I've ever heard of an adapter. I'd be worried that it would just get knocked out and disappear under a dark stage. Quote
Reggaebass Posted Monday at 17:07 Posted Monday at 17:07 Great idea but I’ve never seen one, they are good my jazz elite has one 1 Quote

JJMotown Posted Monday at 19:24 Posted Monday at 19:24 Considering hex keys can be different sizes, finding a one size fits all isn't gonna happen. The adaptor will need to be an absolute perfect fit, otherwise you'll end up rounding out the nut. Quote
Chienmortbb Posted Monday at 20:33 Posted Monday at 20:33 I don't think you can retro fit those, the truss rod/neck is made that way. If you think about it, the fixed part of the truss rod is as the body end of the neck Quote

The G&W wheel I linked could work quite easily. Remove the neck, slip the hex shaft of the TR wheel into the base of the neck then lower the neck back into the pocket. You'd then mark the Allen key slot where it fouls the wheel and remove the offending material. Much depends on the wheel's hex shaft matching the Sire's TR nut. As for locking the wheel in place, you don't have to. Once the wheel is engaged and the neck back in the pocket the bottom of the slot cut will keep the wheel snuggly in place. Reggaebass Posted Monday at 21:39 Posted Monday at 21:39 I could see that working, as you say if it’s the right Allen key size and it’s cut in accurately 1 Quote

neepheid Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago If it's any consolation - Sire include a MAHOOSIVE allen key for maximum leverage... 2 Quote
