David1992 Posted yesterday at 12:52 Posted yesterday at 12:52 (edited) Hi folks, The late @Dov65 was my father and often spoke about the friendships that he had established on Basschat. Following his unexpected passing in November, I inherited a number of guitars, amps, and various accessories that I'm looking to value and sell, with the money being split between his two daughters who are considerably younger than me! Prior to his passing, my dad gave me a Rickenbacker to cherish and treasure. She's stashed away safely and won't be going anywhere. Can anybody help me identify and value the others if I upload images online? Thanks, David. Edited yesterday at 13:39 by David1992 2 Quote
Reggaebass Posted yesterday at 13:04 Posted yesterday at 13:04 Hi David and welcome, firstly I’d like to offer my condolences, I used to chat with your father often and I miss that greatly, unfortunately I’m in London so a bit far away to help you, but I’m sure someone here closer will be able to help, good luck David, Tony Quote
SpondonBassed Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Welcome David. Best wishes to you, your two sisters and the rest of your family. Like many others here, I corresponded with your Dad. Dave Sr contacted me in response to an Items Wanted post I made about four years ago. He was a friendly and generous man. We were in contact a few times after. He was exceptionally supportive of some personal issues I had at the time. He donated lots of useful stuff for my cheapo home building projects. He would not accept my offer to cover postage costs nor take anything for the items he posted to me. At one point he offered me an unwanted iPad for free! I declined as I felt he had already been more than generous to me. From what he said, I gathered that someone else would benefit from the offer. I was surprised to hear of his passing and a little mournful. I'm glad to see you posting in Basschat. It is comforting to see that you are seeking good advice in dealing with your late father's belongings. Good luck with your clearance. 1 Quote

Phil Starr Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Hi David, I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I hadn't crossed paths with him but he sounds like a generous spirit as are so many on BassChat. I would strongle advise you to go onto theBassChat marketplace. There's a whole community of folks there buying and selling treasured gear where you will get good advice and a fair price for almost everything bass and music related. You'll need to take up an annual subscription to sell there but you'll know everything you sell there will be going to a good home and will be treasured or at leased used to make music. You can also search for items and see what they have sold for in the past which will give you a really good idea of what they are actually fetching. There is even a 'what's it worth' sub forum where you can ask other members to price up what you have to sell https://www.basschat.co.uk/forum/121-wotzit-werth/ It might also be worth putting something about your father passing away on the General Discussion thread as people who know him might miss your post in the introductions https://www.basschat.co.uk/forum/13-general-discussion/ Its not uncommon for 'In Memorium' posts to be put up there and other friends of your father might see that and offer help. Good luck with everything and I hope one day you will find time to learn to play something on that Rickenbacker. 1 Quote
