OK @Rich, I’ll just need a suitable sturdy tabletop area and maybe we could get some idea of what people want done in advance. I was thinking Set Ups (Relief, Action, Intonation), Fret Re-seating the odd fret, Levelling the odd high fret, fret polish and fretboard oil and polish for unsealed fretboards. If they’ve acquired a cheap instrument for someone, they could bring it along and get it playing nice for a suitable donation to some BC-relevant charity and I get as much tea as I can drink (which might get costly but I do good work). Rich Posted March 14 Author Posted March 14 A setup demonstration would be a good idea. For a lot of people it's a really dark "I wouldn't know where to start" art, I know there are youpube videos etc but there's nothing like seeing it done right in front of you. Charity donation for definite, but the endless tea is already included in the entry cost, as is the food. Oh god, the food. Dammit, I'd managed to get this far without thinking of the food, and now you've gone and done it. Quote

I can do that, for sure. There’s the simplified version that uses just two hex keys, a screwdriver, a tuner and plectrums (or similar to check action), anyone can learn that without specialist tools/gauges. Quote
thestick Posted March 15 Posted March 15 I have moved into the area so I will be coming along for definite 😊👍🤘 not sure what I will bring yet . I will post nearer the time . As gas my well change things 😂 2 Quote

scrumpymike Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Hi guys, hope all's well with you, my Bass Bash buddies. A bit random this, but been rehearsing a new band since the new year - see website link. I'm posting here in case any of the bands you're in end up having to cancel a gig anywhere in/around Somerset. If you do and need a stand-in band, let me know. We're all dressed up and ready to go but not many gigs in the diary. We'd also love to hear of any keyboard players looking for a band as we're really looking to do more function work. See you on October 12th 🙂 https://www.inlikeflynnband.com/video 1 Quote
neepheid Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Changed my mind... PSYCHE! Yes, I will be there, would be bloody rude of me not to seeing as it appears to have been organised around my calendar and availablity The gear (or the answer to the question "how much bass gear can you fit into a 2011 Mitsubishi Colt?")... G&L CLF L-1000 Yamaha BB1200 Sire D5 Sire Z7 Greco LGB-700 Reverend Triad Epiphone Les Paul (not so) Standard Epiphone Thunderbird '64 Squier Jaguar H (with Ibanez CAP double humbucker from ATK200/800 etc) Gear4Music rat bass (with Lace Aluma-P) AND, if it ever materialises... The results of my £150, all new, "giggable" bass challenge - the "ratlet" as I have christened it. Debating whether to take the Markbass combo, or the TC Electronic BH250 and the Markbass NY 121 cab, for some toneprint shenanigans if nothing else... ach, why not both? 1 Quote
neepheid Posted March 23 Posted March 23 (edited) Might as well chance my arm while I'm here - anyone got a spare bed I could borrow for the night before? Edited March 23 by neepheid Quote

She's a peach and will have had the pickups rebuilt/rewound by then. Not that there's anything wrong with them as they stand, they just need a glow-up and a sort out to bring them on par with everything else about this absolute gem of a bass that I foolishly sold about 4 years ago. 1 Quote
