where do I start!?!

firstly, the look is deliberate! heavily reliced/roadworn by a previous owner. i LOVE it. the problem is I'm playing guitar these days, so I'm reluctantly thinning out the bass herd.

the neck is one of the most beautiful things I've ever played, like butter. not been touched when the relic was being done so the neck is mint condition.

i acquired this some years ago, the electrics were shot and the pickups dull and lifeless.

I converted to Active EMGs 2x Jazz pickups. solderless, silent and absolutely FULL of tone!!!

the neck pickup hidden under the Pup cover gives you good old fashioned Precision THUMP! room shaking low end.

the bridge Pup, Wow! almost a carbon copy of Mike Dirnt. my old band played Basket Case and this thing NAILED that bass cut through.

I use wireless so I installed a switch to turn off the active pickups and save battery because I leave the jack plugged in.

very difficult to price this, it owes me about £300 in upgrades but I'm trying to be realistic about it's value.

YES, it's Roadworn but it's not beaten up. this Bass is solid and I used it for all our downtuned songs. really good tuners and of course the electrics are pretty new.

I'd say a fair price is £625 including insured post, sent in a basic gig bag.

talk to me, what do you think?

Interesting bass, I see the attraction 👍

However, I doubt you’ll sell it unless you take one or more photos with the PUP covers off. Also I assume the switch is removable?

….and you’re asking around £300 more than going rate for the model for what I assume amount to two pickups (and it would have had one already) plus circuit?

Hey!

To be fair I have no idea how much it's worth, happy to negotiate and strike a deal. I paid £500 about 3 years ago before upgrading Pups/loom.

It had a '54 style Neck Pup and a Jazz Bridge Pup, i think i still have them, but they were lifeless and the loom was in poor condition.

It's a stonking instrument. Not even remotely comparable to a current Squier model. In a blind test it would easily hold it's own with any MiM Fender (IMHO)

The switch is removable i guess...

I can add pics as you suggested 👍

Also,  just remembered I have a gold pickguard, somewhere...

Cheers for the pointers 🙂

Whys a precision got jazz covers on it?

Mostly cos it looks pretty ugly without them!

The body routing isn't that neat and the battery is under the bridge cover.

Also, It's not supposed to be a faithful reproduction of any particular model.

Honestly? Keep it, I doubt you'll sell it for much more than half what you're asking - certainly going by what I can see of what's under the PUP covers - and if you paid £500 for it you've already paid £200 over the odds. Even more reason to keep it 👍

The routing of the neck pickup looks to be slightly worse than 'not that neat'...

To second what has already been said, unless your looking to lower the price by 60%, you'd be better keeping it. Even at a price hovering around £250 I suspect you'd struggle to sell it.

Basses like this are like hot rods in the car world, they're cool but you will never ever get back your initial investment.

TBH, I think 50% of your asking price is really optimistic.  if you are looking to get money back split it, you'll sell the neck and pickups, as long as they are priced reasonably.    If you dont need to sell it keep it, if you like how it looks then its worth keeping,

I would echo what others have said. £625 is in the ballpark for US made Musicman SUB and more than Mexican Fenders in the BC Marketplace.

If the bass works for you keep it. You would probably need to spend £300 + pickups if you wanted to replicate the sound/feel with another bass in the future.
