kwmlondon Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Hey everyone. I had a lovely little Hartke Kickback for a few weeks and having an angled combo for low-volume practise at home was really nice. Last night the rehearsal rooms we were in had a Behringer with the same cab and probably a very similar amp and it did a really good job. I honestly enjoyed my tone so much more when it was firing up at me and the others were happy with the sound too. I have a MarkBass NY121 that I'd like to angle up at 45 degrees to get the same effect. I could just use a couple of books to wedge it (and probably will do) but I wonder if anyone has any experience of a more elegant way of doing things. Cheers! Quote

Count Bassie Posted March 18 Posted March 18 (edited) I had an old Peavey combo I did that with. I got hold of a plastic milk crate and cut a 90⁰ angle out of it at an appropriate tilted-back angle, and set the combo in it. It was a good solution- it was very stable as it was a one-piece stand, and it lifted the amp up off the stage so it wasn't so well linked to it. You want to tilt it back just enough so its center of gravity is well inside the crate so it doesn't lean back too hard... it worked really well, I found out how really good this old tank sounded! I ended up buying a Eich BC112pro which has a clever system using a metal rod which locates into a bracket on the back. This allows quite a sharp angle.
