LemonCello Posted March 19 Posted March 19 So I'd been trawling about on tinternet for a new Squier Affinity active Jazz (the nice seafoam green one) and in among the usual suspects - PMT, Andertons etc was a company I'd never heard of called 'SCAN'. A bit of research revealed that they have fingers in a few pies, Computers, Cameras, Gaming and musical instruments. The bass was a tenner cheaper than elsewhere (apart from Thomann) but included was free postage AND a free pro 'set up' costing £100 according to their website so I pulled the trigger hoping that things would work out well....and they did! Ordered the bass on Sunday, arrived on Tuesday really well set up, good comms, fast delivery and that free set up? Very happy bunny. Would be interested to hear others experience of Scan. 5 Quote
fretmeister Posted March 19 Posted March 19 I've had quite a few pedals from them. Always been fast delivery, without any drama. Quote
neepheid Posted March 19 Posted March 19 I've only ordered computer bits from them but had no issues. Quote
la bam Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Just down the road from me. Great place. Often forgotten or overlooked which is a shame. Quote
edstraker123 Posted March 19 Posted March 19 I wondered how good the setup would be given they are primarily a computer retailer. Glad you found it o.k. 1 Quote
MartinB Posted March 19 Posted March 19 I built many a PC with parts from Scan back in the day 1 Quote
chriswareham Posted March 19 Posted March 19 I'm another one that has used them for computer parts going back longer than I can remember. Hadn't realised they now do music gear as well. Quote
LowB_FTW Posted March 19 Posted March 19 I had no idea SCAN did basses. Every day's a school day. Mark Quote
uk_lefty Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Never heard of them.... Will be researching, thank you! 2 Quote
jazzyvee Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Good to hear as i'm considering getting a new nas from them. I had a DS918+ that got trashed due to being supplied with a disk that failed because it had incompatible firmware. I'm looking for the latest new version which is looking like a DS924 or 925 whatever gets released. Quote
dave_bass5 Posted March 20 Posted March 20 I've used Scan many times. Last couple of times ive spent about £3000 in total on keyboards from them (the music kind, not computer type). Over the years they, along with eBuyer have been my go to computer supliers. Quote
Rodders Posted March 20 Posted March 20 I've used them in the past for pedals, no problem at all and arrived quickly, I have a quick nose around to see what they have in now and then. Quote
Rexel Matador Posted March 20 Posted March 20 I bought an interface from them for recording. Best price I could find and they took it back and fixed it when I had an issue with it. Good experience. Quote
Pow_22 Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Local to me, right by the Bolton Wanderers ground. Used them a lot for PC parts and always bang on. Last time I was in they had loads of Hughes and kettner valve amps all nicely lit up on display Quote
SuperSeagull Posted March 20 Posted March 20 I've just ordered a cover for an A&H mixer from them. Due to arrive today and about £15 cheaper than elsewhere. Quote
Jolltax Posted March 20 Posted March 20 I bought my Ibanez from them and they did a set up before dispatching it, I think they have a dedicated pro-audio and music department - I met a bunch of them last year as they had a big stand at the Guitar Show in 2024, not sure if they were there this year. Like others above I have used them on many occasions over the years to buy computer parts and equipment but it wasn't until I saw them at the show that I realised they do music stuff. I rate them highly they have always been very good with me - they have a solid returns policy which I have used in the past and decent customer service. Quote
dudewheresmybass Posted March 20 Posted March 20 I've also had a few bits and pieces from them. Never had any trouble - great prices and swift delivery Quote
tauzero Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Used them for pretty much all my CPUs and motherboards. I'm another one who hadn't realised that they did musical instruments, though the range doesn't particularly appeal to me. Quote
JohnH89 Posted March 20 Posted March 20 I have bought PA equipment from them . Great prices and decent delivery . Quote
Steve Browning Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Hadn't heard of them but just had a look at their site. Very impressed and could well be replacing the late Studiospares for some requirements. Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted March 21 Posted March 21 (edited) Purchased a padded bag for my moog grandmother . Huge saving ..Great service . Would use again Edited March 21 by RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Quote
JazzyJ Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Bought a couple of RCF932A's from them a few months ago at a great price. Delivery was spot on. Used them for PC stuff years ago, never had any issues. Quote
