fretmeister Posted Tuesday at 10:55 Posted Tuesday at 10:55 I have 3 shorties, 2 err, longies, and 3 medies (midies?) I find it dead easy to swap between the long and the short ones, but then going to the medium scale throws me off and I have to look at the fretboard. I have no idea why this is. Maybe it confuses my brain that there is a halfway point. It's bothering me to the point that I'm thinking of selling off the medium scale basses. Is it just me? 1 Quote
mikebass456 Posted Tuesday at 11:02 Posted Tuesday at 11:02 I'm pretty exclusively on short scale now. I find them more intuitive to play than medium and long scale ( and being only 5'5" tall, the short scale basses make me look a bit taller too 😆😆) 2 Quote
tauzero Posted Tuesday at 12:41 Posted Tuesday at 12:41 When I played with a ceilidh band, I used to take an NS WAV-4 EUB (42" scale), a Warwick Thumb fretless (34" scale) and an Ashbory Mk I (18" scale, fretless) and swap between them as I fancied. Didn't have any problems. 1 Quote
lemmywinks Posted Tuesday at 13:22 Posted Tuesday at 13:22 (edited) Had exactly the same issue and sold the 32" scale bass I briefly had, could never get used to it. I can go between 35", 34" and right down to 24.75" and just play normally, I sometimes play my daughter's 30" bass and am fine on that but 32" just completely threw me. Just felt weird.
