SteveK Posted March 25 Posted March 25 I've taken a look in the Android app store, but can't really find what I need. I'm looking for a simple "play along" app: Just tap in the chords, select keyboard type, set tempo, repeat, and off we go. All the apps I've tried seem more about teaching piano and are overly complicated. Anyone got any recommendations? Cheers. Quote
alibabu Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I have had iReal Pro on my phone for umpty years now, it is not free, but costs less than what most people would happily spend on a night out. Has a huge library of songs you can download, and you can also input your own songs. It has selections for style, key and tempo, you can turn on and off instruments etc. What's not to like? 1 Quote
SteveK Posted March 26 Author Posted March 26 Thanks alibabu, I'll take a look at that, although It does sound a little more complex than I need. Quote
Bix Posted March 26 Posted March 26 (edited) I use an app called Chordbot Lite. Allows you to plug in chords, time sigs, tempo, basic instruments etc. Pretty basic but good for practice. Edited March 26 by Bix 1 1 Quote

I've installed it on my phone, I'll give it a go for a day or two, If it fulfils my needs I may pay the £4.99 for the full version😉. Cheers. 1 Quote
SteveK Posted March 27 Author Posted March 27 Just to update: I tried the Chordbot Lite app yesterday evening, it's exactly what I needed. I've now paid the £4.99 for the full featured version. Thanks again, Bix. Quote

ChordBot is great and if anyone is looking for a really dead simple web based app to do something similar, Chord Player, here https://www.onemotion.com is fun, I also like the Drum Machine app, especially if you click the Visualise mode. My younger (and older actually) students find it strangely mesmerising! For a more detailed web based app, HookPad is brilliant for theory as well as song writing. Edited March 27 by Dood Quote
bass_dinger Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Band in a Box was popular (and perhaps still is), if anyone needs something more adaptable. https://www.pgmusic.com/ Hardware solutions might include the Yamaha QY series - I had a Yamaha QY700. Quote
