glassmoon Posted March 26 Posted March 26 (edited) Hi all, I opened my EBS MB3 to set an internal dipswitch (so it's always showing the tuner as on) and now I can't out this thing back together!!! I took it to my tech and we thought we had it, but alas..+. 1. it doesn't line up 100% for the screws and the chassis is clearly not where it should be 2. the pins to connect the DIs to the main PCB either squish (my fault, but fixed) or just don't engage. I've emailed EBS - but no answer as yet... does ANYONE know how this thing is supposed to fit back together? It really does seem bizarre that it is that unwieldly and difficult to reassemble! My thanks in advance Julian aka Glassmoon Edited March 26 by glassmoon Quote
MichaelDean Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I wonder if the fit to the rear connectors isn't as perfect as it might perhaps be? I think I would try: Unscrewing the rear connections Fit that PCB to the main one Close the box Attempt to screw the the connectors back to the enclosure to pull it back into place And then do the enclosure bolts 2 Quote
tauzero Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Looks like the best approach to me too - maybe put in the enclosure bolts loosely first, then the connector block screws. It should be quite easy to get the connectors positioned as you could always plug an XLR lead in to give you something to grab onto and manoeuvre the connectors into place. 1 Quote
glassmoon Posted March 26 Author Posted March 26 Wow - Now this is working - now to get it all back inside and not falling out just as I am about to slot it all through the various holes in the chassis LOL Cheers @MichaelDean 1 Quote
glassmoon Posted March 26 Author Posted March 26 So, so it all works - but the chassis screws don't line up - that can be tomorrow's problem though - right now, I am just chuffed I didn't break the damned thing!! Quote
tauzero Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Loosen off the screws you have got in and jiggle it all around a bit. 1 Quote
glassmoon Posted March 26 Author Posted March 26 It's seated - and about as accurately as I can get it - I don't want to upset the applecart with the DI's. I'm waiting on EBS to respond with a "so, you're the idiot who actually opened it to get to the dip switch? OK, here's what you need to do" instructions LOL Quote
JPJ Posted March 26 Posted March 26 The arrangement looks identical to the EBS Stanley Clarke pre. When I opened mine to set the tuner mini switch to off, I had to align the bottom of the unit on that connector at about 45 degrees then sort of hinge it down into position. My case screw holes lined up perfectly and I could feel the connector seating correctly. Quote
glassmoon Posted March 26 Author Posted March 26 Then you are definitely a luckier man than I @JPJ. Mine was the struggle of note until I disconnected the DI PC. The housing on mine, I suspect, is out of whack though. Something just doesn't feel "right" Quote
attackbass Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I remember doing this to mine when I had one. Took a minute to get it back together but managed it eventually. Quote
Happy Jack Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Is it too late to warn the OP that he has probably invalidated his warranty? 😉 Quote
glassmoon Posted March 27 Author Posted March 27 Well, considering EBS has yet to reply, I'm guessing it doesn't really matter anyway. I think it's expired anyway 😂 Quote
