It's a no from me, I'm really not very keen on that burpy tone, as well as it might be played.

I’m the opposite. Right up my street but agree with others that say it’s context dependent.

Great tone that, exactly what a bass should sound like

What a bass should sound like in this context I guess but completely wrong for lots of other music. There is no ideal bass tone for everything.

I like it, and I really like her signature model Fender.

It actually makes such an old thing look fresh.

I prefer horribly obnoxious, aggressive tones! Or jaco tone or duffs tone or john paul Jones tone or stu hamm's tone, or Neil Murrays tone.....

I’ve never thought of playing there, maybe I should

in a way it’s like the 70s pick-up position thing on a jazz, that is supposed to sound burpier

Yep I agree with you. I'll take that over a P pass with flats tone. I'm not a fan of J/MM basses generally but unless I'm wrong that sounds like the bridge humbucker soloed or at least more bridge than neck.

Whenever I owned Stingrays I always anchored my thumb on the pickup as I never warmed to the sound as much when played nearer the neck. It's all very personal though.

There's a lot more to bass than the tone in the OP and P-Bass with flats.

I was going to say - everyone is aware that it's not against the rules to fit rounds on a P Bass, yes?
