thepurpleblob
There seems to be an increasing popularity in this business of failing the cut the upper bout properly. You people who play these monstrosities; what where you thinking? Burn it and buy a Squier Precision. You know I talk sense. This clearly eats babies... Much as I like Shuker, this should have been quietly killed at birth... Edited June 7, 2009 by thepurpleblob
Dood
heh heh!! I chuckled out aloud! Tell ya what though, if the singlecut is contoured nicely, after a 2 hour gig, you do notice how much more comfy it is not to have an upper horn digging in to ya chest. <<<<<<<<< Makes me wonder why I went for a double cut for my 3rd Shuker! lol
Dood
p.s. Yes, they do indeed eat babies ;o)

BottomEndian
Like sgt-pluck said once about a Jim Fleeting single-cut 9-string:
whenever I see a singlecut I just think 'John Merrick' for some reason.
Couldn't agree more. xilddx
First time I saw one was with Prince's bassist, must have been about 12 years ago. I think a lot of SCs look butt ugly but some are really lovely, a couple of the new Warwick contenders are stunning.
Machines
Have played a few and found them to be quite well balanced - I wouldn't get one myself but don't have a problem with them.

BigRedX
Just like doublecut basses some are beautiful and others lumpen monstrosities. I can't get on with them because their construction interfers with my terrible guitarist's technique.
Buzz
Oh god, not this topic again, it's almost on the level of plectrum vs fingers for the opinions and amount of time it crops up.
Thunderthumbs
Never used to like singlecut designs myself either, but over time they've really grown on me. Not all, just some. I think I may have "bass goggles" on.

Jean-Luc Pickguard
I think a thunderbird can accurately be described as a singlecut. Although the comfort, sound and balance may not be to everyones taste, I do believe anyone who says a thunderbird is ugly clearly has no taste. Thunderbirds are the most dissapointing basses to play as they look so sexy, sound great but are totally impractical for me. Regarding the other singlecuts they remind me of a humpback whale. Bloomin ugly. I don`t care how good they sound, looking cool in the pub is important to me. Yes I am a shallow, talentless bumstard.
