Angus1 Posted Tuesday at 23:26 Posted Tuesday at 23:26 Hello! I have an active jazz bass and have a bit of a gripe with how the tone pot disables when it switches from active to passive. I find the three band eq doesn’t give me enough high cut and would love to be able to us both in conjunction with eachother. I am not at all clued up about electronics so if anyone knows anything about any of this please point me in the right direction. Any help greatly appreciated! included some photos of the circuits incase that might help anyone Best, Angus Quote
Doctor J Posted yesterday at 05:51 Posted yesterday at 05:51 First thing would be to specify exactly which bass model you have, so the specs could be understood. From your description, it sounds like your passive mode is just bypassing the entire pre-amp circuit, in which case it would be far simpler to replace the electronics as a whole to one designed with an integrated passive tone control, such as a Sadowsky, East, etc. There are plenty of options out there. 2 Quote
lemmywinks Posted yesterday at 06:27 Posted yesterday at 06:27 A cheaper option would be one of the cloned Sire preamps off AliExpress for about £24. I'd stick an East in it though if you have the room. A passive tone control is useful in active mode as well, gives you a lot more, err, control over the treble as you can boost a wider range then roll off the spiky bits from the 80s. Quote
Hellzero Posted yesterday at 09:22 Posted yesterday at 09:22 Looks like you have a Fender Reggie Hamilton derived Plus or Deluxe active circuitry and you won't be able to have the tone working in active mode unless you add another potentiometer. Quote
