Hi all

i am looking to upgrade the pickups and tuners, otherwise a very good bass indeed. I think i lucked out as these can be hit or miss i think.

Any thoughts on what tuners fit this bass ?

i was going to buy the Gotoh clover leafs that Pete has for sale………

and if anyone has some passive jazz pickups they want to move on pls say

cheers, Mike

What is the bass currently not delivering for you? Jazz pickups cover a broad church. Dimarzio Ultra Js are going to deliver a very different set of goods over some ultra-correct early '60s spec'd recreation.

They are the 60’s wound pups and i prefer higher output ones like SD’s or toneriders which work well with the kiogin tonepots and s/p switch.

Toneriders are generally quite vintage voiced and genteel. Which Seymour Duncans do you prefer? The Apollo set is voiced to sound quite orthodox but is noise cancelling, which may appeal.

Tuner-wise most likely Hipshot 1/2” Ultralites. Hipshot are very good at advising re their products so may be worth messaging them to make sure. Ultralites make a big difference to regular Fender Mex tuners.

Pickups - well years ago I put a Seymour Duncan Hot Stack in an Aerodyne Jazz, kept the sound pretty much the same but just much bigger & fuller, hum-cancelling too which is a bonus.
