So pretty much every bass on this planet then 😉

apart from my new toy, a Kramer 450b. I think it is made from wood effect stone!

Bassbros have a lovely Vigier Excess in stock.

Spend the extra 500 quid and get the Passion with the graphite neck. Oh, Lord that is gorgeous!

That is really lovely. I am tempted and I already own an Excess.

Bit of a typo in the Bassbros description saying that the truss rod is in fully working order given that Vigiers do not have a truss rod.

Early models do have one, but these two don't. 😉

That's a lot of interesting suggestions. The Sandberg California is quite appealing. The precision and stingray pickups are an appealing combo

But can it do metal?

I'd assume any Sandberg can do metal (them being bright basses by default), especially if you hook it up with a Sansamp for additional saturation and OD.

I think anything can do metal. I've even seen a Hoffner violin bass used by a doom band before.

A precision and humbucker should be an ideal pickup combination

I'm afraid it can't...

Sandberg insist on a lifetime all-owner contract that stipulates that not only must their basses not be used to play any of the millions of sub-genres of metal, but they can't be used on any bill where metal is being played, whether live or recorded.

If you still consider Rammstein as a metal band, it can, if you consider it's now a pop band with a metal look, it can too.

That said, isn't a black painted bass enough for metal? 🤪😉

I think Trump put a tariff on metal, so it's now too expensive for Americans to use a European bass for that purpose.
