The advantage is that 95% of Hawkwind song names would work as a name for the band. There was a Hawkwind tribute locally to me looking for a synth player. I was tempted as I have a Moog Rogue and an equally vintage analogue echo unit, but I figured it would get boring quite quickly and I would rather be playing bass. 1 Quote

dudewheresmybass Posted Monday at 15:25 Posted Monday at 15:25 (edited) I would love to do a Death Tribute. However finding guitarists with the required skills and drummers is a little tough. Mind you I'd have to do some very hard work!! lol My thinking has always been that a tribute band should not really be of something that still exists. It seems a bit pointless tbh. That was one of my short-lived bands in the 00's. I used to play in a covers band and book bands at the pub I worked in, but the best local live music venue would only really do Tribute acts on Fridays and Saturdays. We thought, at the time, it was a clever send up of all the lazy tribute band names we saw advertised which may as well have just been "Not U2" , "Not...(Insert whatever band name)". What made it really subversive was that we would never play any Mott the Hoople... 2 Quote

There was a Dead Boys tribute in the US, and when Cheetah Chrome was persuaded to restart the band he recruited the tribute act's singer to replace the late Stiv Bators. That guy rage quit last year, and now my band's lead guitarist is fronting them on their current world tour. Cheetah is the only original member, although I think the original drummer was involved at one point. Edited 1 hour ago by chriswareham Quote
