Basszilla Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Hi all Been a while since I used an amplifier. Sold my matamp rig a couple years ago and generally play unplugged or straight into my daw via di. Not gigging these days life is pretty busy, however I would still like to be able to chuck a combo on the car if need be, or have the option of recording a decent bass sound at home with a mic. Part of me is hankering for a combo set up for my pbasses, something I can use at home. I generally like to play everything from hip hop through to modern rock. Is it even worth getting an amp these days, or would a high quality di and preamp do the job better. What's out there these days? I like to use compressors/overdrives and/or fuzz pedals going in. 1 Quote
ped Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Eich BC112pro solved all my problems. Amazing DI, flexible EQ and tilt control (great for adjusting the character for different basses) and it leans back for monitoring without needing a compromised wedge shaped enclosure. Very light and well made. You can turn off the cab and use the amplifier for headphone practice too. I always liked the idea of a good combo but found the problem was that they fired at my feet so this solves that problem really well. I’ve never heard myself better on stage. I tend to put it to my side between me and my drummer. 2 Quote

I have a couple of fenders which tick the boxes, a rosewood oly white 1996 and a black on maple 2004. I can get most of what I need from them. Something about a pbass just does it for me. 1 Quote
