Basszilla Posted yesterday at 07:24 Posted yesterday at 07:24 Hi all Been a while since I used an amplifier. Sold my matamp rig a couple years ago and generally play unplugged or straight into my daw via di. Not gigging these days life is pretty busy, however I would still like to be able to chuck a combo on the car if need be, or have the option of recording a decent bass sound at home with a mic. Part of me is hankering for a combo set up for my pbasses, something I can use at home. I generally like to play everything from hip hop through to modern rock. Is it even worth getting an amp these days, or would a high quality di and preamp do the job better. What's out there these days? I like to use compressors/overdrives and/or fuzz pedals going in. 1 Quote
ped Posted yesterday at 07:36 Posted yesterday at 07:36 Eich BC112pro solved all my problems. Amazing DI, flexible EQ and tilt control (great for adjusting the character for different basses) and it leans back for monitoring without needing a compromised wedge shaped enclosure. Very light and well made. You can turn off the cab and use the amplifier for headphone practice too. I always liked the idea of a good combo but found the problem was that they fired at my feet so this solves that problem really well. I’ve never heard myself better on stage. I tend to put it to my side between me and my drummer. 2 Quote

I have a couple of fenders which tick the boxes, a rosewood oly white 1996 and a black on maple 2004. I can get most of what I need from them. Something about a pbass just does it for me. 1 Quote
